"UCSD is definitely a top notch university. Most of the classes have a challenging and rigorous curriculum. I had a better experience with liberal arts courses than I did with science/math classes. A lot of the CS classes were difficult not because the material was hard rather because the professors did not do a good job of getting the points across. In terms of diversity, UCSD is actually not that diverse. It is a relatively safe campus. The city of La Jolla is quite safe but lacks activities for students to engage in off campus."

"UC San Diego provided a wonderful undergraduate experience for me. It had both rigorous and engaging academics, and the opportunity to have a rich social world. If you are an outgoing person who is willing to be proactive about pursuing events and activities, and you also want a great academic balance, then UCSD is for you. If you want the social experience to be served up without having to put effort in, then UCSD isn't for you. You'll stay lost in the quiet hall of the library, while the ultimate frisbee team is off having a blast."

"I loved this campus! All the professors I had were extremely knowledgeable and resourceful. The campus was large enough that everyday it was an adventure. There are numerous food spots and markets around campus that if you're hungry, you can stop by and pick something up easily. UCSD is near a beach so I would take study breaks on the sand every week."

"UC San Diego's School of Global Policy and Strategy is an incredible place to further one's education. The professors work side by side with the students to further their research and interests in international and domestic issues and solutions. This program is one of the most quantitative programs in the country. This means that you and not only given tools to understand policy and how it is implemented, but the effects of policy and how to make improvements for the future. We learn skills in data analysis, international business management, policy writing and more. Our career services staff also works tirelessly to match us with the perfect internships, careers, and how to prepare for their acquisitions. It is an honor to be a part of such an incredible and progressive school and I am looking forward to where this degree will take me in the future."

"I attended UC San Diego as a double major in Theatre and Biological Anthropology. Doing so gave me the opportunity to experience the university through both artistic and scientific perspectives. Within each department, I found instructor passionate about their material and students driven to succeed. I studied Egyptology and evolution during the day, then performed in plays at night. I feel that I was given a well-rounded education, which made me competitive enough to be admitted to Columbia University's Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, beginning in the fall. I hope to apply skills I learned from both my majors to my practice as a Physical Therapist."

"The University of California San Diego has wonderful biology, engineering, and computer science programs. The faculty is great, and they are passionate about the topics that they are teaching. Unfortunately, the lecture halls are quite large, and it is common to have 400 classmates! There are many extracurricular activities that you can become involved with including several organizations, research opportunities, becoming an undergraduate teachers assistant, and even more. The campus environment is relaxed, and the weather is wonderful. The teaching quality is good, though I had to learn the material on my own because the upper division courses were fast paced."

"UC San Diego is a school that forces you to break out of your shell and seek out new opportunities. The classes are tough because the professors at this institution are researchers and well accomplished. The UC system is geared towards research and there are an abundance of research opportunities for students, but students need to be proactive in seeking them out and applying. The rigorous coursework and quarter system has well prepared me for the masters program I will be attending. The connections I made through research at UCSD allowed me to gain valuable experience, and helped me land a position after graduating at the UCSD medical center itself. Aside from this the campus is located near the beach, and is absolutely beautiful! Non students and locals comes to the campus to walk their dogs, exercise and enjoy the hidden art around campus."

"UC San Diego is known for its biosciences and state of the art research facilities, but it also offers excellent programs in the humanities and arts. The Writing Program as well as the Visual Arts program focus heavily on theory and portfolio-building. Due to the enormity of the campus, you have to take the initiative of maintaining a social life, but the ecology of the surrounding canyons and ocean provide ample inspiration for both creative as well as scientific projects."

"This Master's Program helped me see different perspective both legal and medical professionals. Students that are currently enroll in this program will go through a mind-opening journey to combine the legal and medical field into something meaningful."

"Majoring in human development has allowed me to find my passion toward doing research as well as studying about environmental and genetic factors that contribute toward development of humans. "I loved my courses at UC San Diego. I felt challenged and engaged in my education. I particularly loved the courses I took for my minor in Study of Religion. I graduated more than 7 years ago, and I still reflect on how much I was impacted by my courses and professors in this program. "The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is a university part of the University of California education system. UCSD is known to be predominately a science school so if you plan to major in engineering, computer science or biology then this is a great university to go to since the opportunities to get research experience. On the other hand if you are studying in the social science or humanities UCSD is also a great school because the faculty there really want you to succeed. In regards to social life, UCSD is located in La Jolla so the surrounding community is mainly a wealthy residential area. The beach is located right near campus so that is a great place to go to in order to relax. Overall UCSD is a great place to attend and I would recommend this university to anyone considering applying to the UC System."

"At UCSD, students applying should really try to connect with current students to get the real perspective on what it is like. Sometimes brochures don't say it all. UCSD has its perks and it really depends on your area of study. Overall, its a beautiful campus with lots to see and do. The weather is amazing all year round except for like 2 weeks in the winter. The faculty in certain departments are amazing if you make an effort to get to know them. Also, UC is not Social Dead. There are lots of things to do on and off campus, but again, it really depends on who you know and how willing you are to put yourself out there and discover new things. Living on campus is a little expensive, but it is a great experience. If you live off campus nearby, you're looking at $450+/month for a double room because La Jolla is expensive. I would also recommend getting acquainted with public transportation because parking is a nightmare!"

"The earth sciences undergraduate program at UC San Diego gives you a good background so that you can go into any field in the earth sciences whether you want to be a hard rock geologist or atmospheric scientist or go into science policy. They have something for everyone at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The professors are good at instilling a sense of wonder in their students about the planet. They also try to get you to do your best. You will be challenged to improve you ability to solve problems and discover."

"I'm satisfied from the many career opportunities the university gave me. All the professors prepared me for the future, and helped me to achieve my goals. Moreover, they were always willing and available to clarify my doubts, or to help me in the assignements. The laboratory works are enjoyable and made me a more knowledgeable person."

"UCSD is well renowned for its competitiveness, rigor, and prestige. It offers a lot of opportunities in terms of jobs, internships, volunteering, student organizations, etc. However, the class sizes can get extremely large, and everything is really expensive. The student body is lacking in diversity."
