"After finishing my four years at University of Delaware would like to obtain my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from one of the twenty-eight competitive veterinary schools. By the time I am thirty I will then have my Board- certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine to specialize in cardiology. Consequently, I plan on having a stable career at a veterinary hospital, particularly the Cornell University Veterinary Specialists Hospital. I would like to volunteer abroad. I think that volunteering helps you grow as a whole. First and foremost it broadens your knowledge about the world so that you are not ignorant to the global issues and concerns. Also I think any type of volunteering humbles you. I am very fortunate to have a family in my life that constantly pushes me to be the best and provide for whatever I need. Also love connecting with different people. I think it is a great way to develop your social skills with unforgettable experiences. Though I have not had the chance to volunteer abroad, I have had many volunteering experiences in my community. A friend family was diagnosed with acute childhood leukemia. In an effort to bring awareness to the public, specifically to the African American population, his parents partnered with two bone marrow donor registries to increase African Americans registered to donate and to help the community. I was given the wonderful opportunity to help his family spread the world about his unexpected circumstances."

Ann Ceraldi - 7/10/2016
Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 1982
"I transferred to the University of Delaware from another school because I wanted to obtain my BSN which the other college did not offer. This proved to be a wise decision as the trend is now to require all registered nurses to have a BSN. This degree also increases the salary a nurse is paid, versus having only an RN. I lived on campus, and always felt safe walking around, although I never walked alone after dark. The classes were very rigorous, and the clinical rotations were excellent. We did children's hospital rotations, mother/child, med/surg, psyche, and public health. I felt it was very comprehensive and prepared me very well for entering the nursing profession."

"I think it was a wonderful school that had a great campus and student life to make people feel welcome and supported during their time there. It also wasn't just about academics, everyone on campus worked hard to make sure students were succeeding academically, but also growing as people into wonderful adults, with amazing experiences."

"The surrounding town of Newark, DE was a welcoming and very navigable for students. There are plenty of restaurants and things to do on the weekends. Most students stay on campus throughout the year. The student programming offered is extremely varied and well-organized. The school spirit is strong and contagious as well. Alumni are always returning for Homecoming Weekend and other large-scale events. The coursework is competitive and challenging, so make sure that you maintain your good study habits and visit the library often. Overall, it was a fantastic college experience."
