"Good quality science goes on here. Like any University not all Professors have enough funding, but what I like about UD is that they will fund their Masters students. Newark is fun, but it isn't a city. I great biology masters program."

"Pros:The psychology department is very supportive of their graduate students in a relaxed yet productive environment. There is a lot of weight placed on collaboration versus competition between labs and disciplines. They are hiring 10 new faculty members with a focus on neuroscience. Cons: My area has very few women graduate students in it. The most advanced neuroimaging techniques available are EEG or TMS. Pro/Con: Not a lot of pressure to be meeting your goals or producing publications, you need to be self-motivated."

"UD Biological sciences is a nice grad program in that the students are a pretty close-knit, friendly group of people. Many of the professors are extremely helpful in offering guidance for future schooling/career advice. Parking is extremely annoying at UDel, as you need an expensive permit to park pretty much anywhere on campus. Like many grad programs, there isn't a real set date for you to graduate, so many people slip through the cracks and don't get their degree anywhere near the 'expected graduation' date. A lot hinges on the subjective evaluation of your commitee and whether they decide you are 'ready'."

"Funding can be a huge issue but in general I think all of the faculty do exciting cutting edge research and are there to help the students learn and excel in the program and in the future. I think the variety of research is refreshing and nice to not be in just a microbiology program. The Delaware Biotechnology building is a wonderful asset allowing us the ability to work with cutting edge imaging and sequencing."
