"Diversity and Inclusion is the best thing about UIC. We have the largest medical school in the nation, but we also graduate the most Latinos and African Americans (outside of HBCUs). Additionally, our school focuses on clinical medicine and the healing art - as opposed to just basic sciences. They give us hands on exposure from day 1. On the other hand, support staff is in constant flux - so it seems like sometimes you need to figure things out on your own. But as Medical Students, this doesn't seem too difficult."

"UIC College of Medicine is a great place to study medicine. The class is very diverse and it boasts one of the highest graduation rates for underrepresented minorities. The college of medicine has been recently renovated with state of the art educational facilities, and has great recreational facilities. With Chicago as the backdrop there is never a lack of things to do."

"Pros: UIC college of Medicine is a great institution which combined both clinical and basic sciences throughout the course of the medical career. The student body is diverse and students are fortunate to help underserved communities. Cons: The area surrounding the medical school can at times feel unsafe, there are several crime alerts during a weeks period associated with robberies. The office of student affairs at times is not as helpful for students in need."

"Obviously, any MD program is tough but will prepare you to be a good doctor. Although it's not a top 10 MD program, U of I has a great reputation. The Urbana campus of U of I Medicine is a little-known gem. There is great community and opportunitites here in the Urbana campus."

"A top notch program that offers competition yet support between it's students, UICOM is the epitome of what a medical school program is supposed to be. While the Rockford and Chicago campuses are not in the most ideal of neighborhoods, the facilities utilized by each campus is absolutely spectacular and cutting edge."

"To my experience thus far the pros are definitely reputation of UIC. This University is renowned nation wide for its programs and education. It is the third largest medical school in the country and its past graduates are some of the industries leaders in medicine and research. The cons are that it does not supply financial support to all programs on a level playing field as some programs such as mine (HIM) come behind doctorate and other programs when it comes to scholarship and grant funding."
