"Pros: I believe that the University of Illinois at Chicago's MPH program is one of the very best. The university is a great place to study public health due to its location in the heart of downtown Chicago, IL, arguably one of the most diverse city's in the country. Additionally, The University of Illinois at Chicago's MPH program contains a large amount of diversity within itself, adding to its appeal due to the fact that the public health sector consists of a vastly diverse group of professionals serving equally diverse communities. Furthermore, the university attracts some of the most highly qualified staff in the nation due to it's position as the public health school with the most research funding per staff member from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Cons: Although the staff consists of highly qualified individuals, the University of Illinois at Chicago's School of Public Health receives more NIH research funding per staff member than any other accredited public health university in the United States. Because of this, some professors can be extremely hard to contact outside of the classroom due to research projects that are their primary reason for working at the university (in contrast to teaching)."

"I believe the pros is the staff, students, overall support (career, academic etc.) and the location. The cons are the overall standing of the school."

"UIC provides an outstanding educational environment. Classes are all well sized, and most of the professors are fun and easy to work with. The tuition prices are reasonable, and financial aid assistance is offered if needed. Commute to UIC is very easy via public transportation or by car, with parking lots available for additional fee."

"My program is really interesting because i am learning and doing some researches on planetary sciences, my advisor is co-worker of NASA, he can get the newest information from NASA which helping our researches a lot. Our purpose is to study other planets in the solar system based on geophysics knowledge, earth resources is not enough for our human beings, hopefully in the future we can use the resources from other planets which can make great contributions to people."

"UIC has a fantastic OT program. My favorite part of being in the program is the overall environment provided by (1) supportive, knowledgeable faculty and (2) friendly, hardworking classmates."

"Some of the teachers are honestly horrific and very lazy. You can tell they do not care, even though I am sure they are very smart about certain subjects. I have found that the teachers that are the worst are the ones that actually graduated from the program, which I do not find too comforting. The location of Chicago is hard to beat if you like cities, it can also be very distracting at times though. Often times I wish I went to a different university."

"My time at UIC provided a well-rounded public health education in occupational safety through the expertise of the professors and the opportunities provided for work-site visits. The diversity of the campus was also refreshing, with students from all over including Nigeria and Pakistan. Our public health buildings may have been small, but the resources provided more than made up for it, and the fact that our location is so close to downtown Chicago opened up other available resources as well."

"Small enough program to focus on student achievements and efficient learning programs. Large faculty to better assess individual student's career choices and paths."

"The program overall is very competitive, yet there's a friendly attitude among the students and staff. The con is the transportation system. I really hate that there isn't specific parking for graduate programs at an appealing cost. Bus transportation takes too much time, and can put you behind schedule during exams."

"Pros: Rich environment in which to conduct research. Opportunities for interdisciplinary work. Ability to obtain teaching experience, both basic language classes and undergraduate major courses. Cons: Not an equal amount of support in non-generative linguistics. Teaching load of 3 courses per AY is heavy."

"UIC is an extremely diverse urban campus, and the History Dept. offers a very competitive program for students of American History. Additionally, this school is located in a world class city. The main drawback is that one can hardly take advantage of living in Chicago on a grad student's budget."

"I have learned a lot through our program. We have varied research interests throughout the department and for the most part the faculty are kind and supportive. We are able to collaborate with other schools in Chicago and this is helpful."

"Campus Crime alerts are frequent in this Chicagoland Area. Most graduate classes are at night. Students need to be aware of surrounding areas that may be dark & secluded. Nevertheless, the quality of education and praticum hours are great combinations towards earning a degree and professiobal experience."

"Great education is provided with a theme of challenging students to become independent researchers. Myriad of research opportunities available in a wide array of fields mainly concerned with human health. The only con to the graduate program is the fact that financial aid is not provided due to the high volume of students."

"The faculty and students of the MSW program are representative of the community; They offer many, new perspectives to the classroom. Small classrooms allow students to interact and engage in meaningful discussions. In terms of cons, the MSW program is very demanding. Also, the financial aid package is inadequate."
