"My college experience and degree program was good. The campus is small, which makes it easy to go from one class to another. Not to mention that the police department is located right on the campus, which adds security and peace of mind. The professors in both departments were accessible to the students. The professors all possess the knowledge of the subject they teach. The classes are small, which makes it easy to interact with the professor as well as the students. There are many clubs and activities that students can be part of."

"Your experience at the University of La Verne will vary depending on the extra curricular activities you decide to participate in. Being in a sport at the school is very demanding; sometimes I had more hours of practice than class. Although time consuming, the friends you make are lifelong. I study Kinesiology at the school, there are 2 pathways- athletic training and a general kinesiology for those who want to become P.As, P.Ts, etc. I'm in the general pathway but regret it deeply. The athletic training pathway is a much more rigorous and much more in depth learning of the human body; for those who want to do physical therapy I would highly recommend taking the athletic training path to better prepare you for graduate school."

"I have done very well in my career. As with any post graduate career market I had to work hard but I learned that at ULV. I really enjoyed the smaller classes and the real interaction I had with teachers. I had to learn how to think critically and be a good writer and orator. I had to learn how to develop thoughts and opinions and defend them. I was in the Political Science department and I benefited from some great seminar classes that encouraged lots of discussion and review of text. Now almost 15 years later I make a six figure income in a field that many told me would not pay off. Where ULV does need improvement is the alumni network. It is small and weak. In my opinion its great if you want to be a teacher to be in the ULV network but that's about it. I wish there was more robust recruiting for all majors, internships and job placements. I have NO contacts from ULV that helped me in my career search that I had to do all on my own."

"Small school in which your experience is what you make of it. The more active you are with your professors and around campus, the more you will feel that you are getting out of your tuition paid."

"Attending the University of La Verne was one of the best career choices I have ever made. I loved the school's community. The school's admissions, and counseling offices are superbly organized, supporting and knowledgeable and hassle free for students to contact at any time. The professors are highly qualified professionals who really take the time to get to know the students individually. The professors mentor the students well as they draw on your strengths while collaborating with classmates to build leadership skills. This is a school that will challenge and support you to take you to new levels in your field. You can expect a lot of group work, individual power point presentation and professional APA research reports along with real life examples, observations and expertise. The skills I learned during the program improved my performance as a teacher imminently after each class, even teachers who had their BS degree from other colleges lacked some of the skills I was acquiring from ULV, particularly with knowledge of assessment tools. Before I became a ULV alumni I never aspired to get a degree beyond my B.S. in E.C.E. My experience at the University of La Verne has empowered me to achieve my M.A. E.C.E. at Pacific Oaks College and I am currently seeking admission in a doctoral program. ULV sets the bar for high standards of a college education I missed attending ULV when I was working on my MA degree at POC simply because it was not nearly as organized or personalized as the University of La Verne was."

"This college is great for learning and exploring new studies. The teachers are always there to help and answer questions. The classrooms are not over filled with students, so it is easier to get information and answers from professors. There is always someone available to answer any questions about the finances and advising. I am a repeat student because of all these qualities."

"The teachers really care about their students. They will do anything to see you succeed if you are willing to put in the work. I loved the small class sizes because I was able to get to know all the students in the class as well as the teacher on a first name basis. I would highly recommend the Accounting program because the teachers are all amazing, and I learned so much from every class."

"I owe everything to ULV. It's the place where I learned and grew and accomplished far more than I ever thought I was capable of. The entire Communications department at the university was where I discovered my passions and talents, and developed my skills in every aspect of media and communications. It's where I made the connections that led me to my first internship, which eventually turned into my first job right after I graduated. I'm definitely a Leo For Life, and I am forever grateful for every experience I had at ULV. It has something for everyone, and it's the perfect place for you to learn, grow, and have fun while simultaneously preparing yourself for life after college."

"Pros: I have just completed the first year of my graduate program and I can honestly say that I am glad to have chosen the University of La Verne. It is a wonderful and beautiful campus that has supportive professors. I am in the clinical psychology (Psy. D.) program. This is a doctorate degree in the field of clinical psychology and the University of La Verne has a phenomenal doctorate program. There are many things that I love about my graduate program. The first thing is that the professors are incredibly invested. This is wonderful and makes me feel extremely supported as a student. Secondly, the program is very competitive. There are only nine students in my cohort (including myself). However, while it is a selective program, the students are not competitive among themselves. We all help one another and build an environment of love and support. Additionally, our professors and the program directors have made a wide variety of clinical opportunities available for us. There is everything from clinical field work to the ability to conduct research or present posters at conferences. Our professors are inspiring and help motivate us every step of the way. I can NOT stress how supportive they are. The quality of education in our program is simply among the best. In addition, the campus is vibrant with diversity and is very safe. As a young woman, safety is something that I value and diversity has always been of importance to me. I feel that you learn a lot from being around students of every ethnicity and background. I feel that I will be very successful in my future as a clinical psychologist, because of the graduate program I chose. Cons: While my graduate program is wonderful, there are some elements of the program that can be improved. Financial aid is the biggest issue. While many graduate programs are expensive and there is little financial aid, the costs of my graduate program is primarily funded through loans. This is difficult, because as students I do not know how we can pay all of this back when we enter the working world. This aspect of my graduate program is worrisome. It is difficult to balance finances while juggling such an intensive program. Additionally, I feel that the program is a bit too intensive. However, I do understand that at the doctorate level, difficulty and rigor is to be expected."

"I earned my M.S. in Leadership and Management. The variety of off-site locations made the program extremely accessible to both my home and work sites. Faculty is knowledgeable, encouraging, helpful, and open."

"The pros to the graduate program at the University of La Verne are the class sizes are relatively small which makes it easier to network with fellow classmates, the ratio between student and professor is about 1:16, the program prepares individuals from the start by getting students involved in the career field, and many more positive aspect. The one con is that the university offers little financial aid (scholarships) packages for graduates."

"The graduate program is excellent. A pro is that the professors and the staff are always helpful and readily available. In addition, another pro is that you feel as though you are actually learning something and that the information you are receiving is valuable and can be utilized not only inside the classroom but outside of the classroom as well. Another pro is that the number of students in a classroom are small so you feel as though you are an actual person that counts instead of just a number in a crowd of many. The classes are taught by actual professor instead of TA's that may be lacking in experience. Also, because the classroom sizes are small you are able to participate is discussions and asks questions which enhances the learning experience. However, a con is that the tuition cost that is consistently increased. Also, it is difficult to find parking and even when you purchase a parking permit it seems as though it is a waste of money because the permitted parking spaces are always full."

"Tell us about your college experience. It was not difficult to register for classes, as opposed to some public colleges I previously attended. Instructors were very active and helpful. This school was a good fit for me because it offered the degree I wanted in online format. I had to work, so online classes fitted my schedule very well. Although classes were conducted online, classmates were very interactive by communicating via Blackboard.Would you get the same degree if you could start over? No, I would choose the Accounting degree instead because of the career market today. What advice can you offer other students?Try to get connection as much as you can. Either with professors or classmates."

"Pros: The University of La Verne has small class sizes, which facilates strong professional relationships among students and between students and instructors. The courses are challenging and real life experiences are integrated within text book material. The program has a strong advocacy for the success of ethnic minority students and uses and teaches multicultural theories within the curriculum. Cons: The program is expensive, since it is a private university. Students are charged per unit, which can sometimes make taking more classes difficult due to the high expense that accumulates. For some students, this may force them to take a longer time to finish the program."
