"I am greatly appreciative of the education that I am receiving at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The curriculum is extremely rigorous, and challenges critical thinking abilities, as well as abilities to work on a team and in inter-professional environments. There are copious opportunities for extracurricular involvement, not just in medical activities, but in research, in the arts, in public health. Baltimore is a unique city in that there are amazing opportunities to learn about socioeconomic determinants of healthcare and fully practice understanding those barriers to care and helping to prepare us to be better physicians. I wouldn't trade my education here for anything!"

"As a graduate student, internal driving is absolutely critical. Professors and faculties in the department are easy accessible and supportive. On the other hand, financial aid compared with other programs is lesser."

"The faculty in this department are very knowledgeable and accessible. The support (both professionally and academically) is superb. However, because the department is dedicated to supporting you financially as you work on your graduate degree, it can be difficult to complete the degree in a timely manner. There is not an external impetus to move quickly through the milestones of the graduate degree. It can be done, however, but that is when the student is internally driven. Learning is constantly happening, so even the delays are not necessarily negative aspects."
