"UMD’s Smith School is a top-tier public business powerhouse known for elite faculty and rigorous programs in finance and analytics. Its proximity to DC offers unmatched networking and high ROI, though the competitive, high-pressure environment is intense."

"University of Maryland is an ok sort of school for graduate program specially for finance. There is nothing special or great about the school to be recommended to anyone. The school take hell lot of students and it's feel crowded. The selection criteria is liberal and relaxed and it doesn't feel part of being any special offers great school. The diversity is almost zero as 95% intake is from one country so doesn't seems we are taking good course in USA. The place doesn't seems to be secure and with the frequent incidents of shooting and robbery in near buy places. The campus placement services is of no use and the shuttle services can be improved to cater to more areas near buy. Overall an AVERAGE school."

"I joined the R.H. Smith School of Business (University of Maryland) for the Masters in Finance program. I must say that the instructors here are really good. They are knowledgeable in their field and are able to put that across to students very well. There are a number of elective courses to choose from, hence we can pick courses suited to our needs. However, this year they have also included tracks (risk management/asset management/ corporate finance/ general finance) in addition to the option of picking courses according to our choices. If one joins a track, one would complete the course in 24 months, else it would have to be completed in 16 months. One drawback is the class diversity. It's not diverse to the extent one would want. But the folks in the class are really competitive. So you need to work well. If you are a local student then i feel this is a good place to be, even in terms of getting an internship/ job as Washington D.C. is close to campus."
