"To me the University of Maryland emphasizes and welcomes diversity. That was one of the most important aspects to me in deciding on what school I wanted to continue my education for my masters degree. Until lately, it seems Public Health has been an understated major that many students did not really know the depth of its impact. I did my undergrad at UM and felt that it was put together by people who truly believed in the benefits and impact of public health on the world. I think that again this was another reason why I chose to continue at UM. I always felt that if my professors were passionate about their jobs it would come through in their teaching. Many of my colleagues went on to pursue many different internships, which led them to full time careers during their studies at UM. Now in my masters I have to admit that I love the flexibility of the program and how it was designed with working and family oriented individuals in mind. I was surprised to see how responsive and accommodating professors were in respect to professional and personal life. Although the program is majority online, I believe that the content that is prepared from our professors are timely and will have benefits and takeaways we can use in the future. I think that the way that our courses are set-up in a self-taught learning environment are also not overly complicated. Thus, for those who may be not familiar will not have a hard time following along the timeline of the course. Overall, I am happy with my choice in attending UMCP and feel that other students who are looking for a masters in Public Health Policy and Practice in a more self-paced learning environment should look for UMCP as a contender for a great school to continue pursuing their education."

"I love College park. Most importantly, I love the fact that it is very diverse. The university is consist of people from all over the world. The Professors are amazing, they are not only there to teach but to also form a great relationship with each and every one of their students. They work very hard to make sure every student is satisfied with every class they ever sign up for. They care and go above any beyond to help students with any issues they may have. The school in general is a very good school for students who seek for affordable and very convenient school. I come from Africa, so for a very long time, finding a suitable school was a challenge considering English being my second language. However, College park was a school that welcomed me very warmly and help make my transition extremely easy. I did not have a hard time finding students that I could relate to with the help of the great counselors the school provides for students. Overall, I did not just earn a degree from the university of Maryland, College park but also a great group of friends who I call family. I would love to go back for graduate school and be a part of this phenomenal experience once again:)"

"I recently completed my first semester at the University of Maryland in College Park and had an excellent experience. I am working on my Master of Public Health degree and have been very pleased by the warm and caring nature of the professors that I have had to this point and know that they want their students to succeed and are willing to make and take the time to help them individually. The students are also very accepting and take their studies seriously. In the classroom I have learned a lot in just my first semester and the previous knowledge that I had has been reinforced. I look forward to continuing my education at UMD in the upcoming semester."

"As the first person in my family to graduate from college, obtaining my degree from the University of Maryland, College Park will not only allow me to satisfy my yearning desire for a better understanding of the world, but also give me the means to move beyond my own experiences. I feel that the faculty and coursework have provided me with the necessary education needed in order to succeed. Not only do I desire to work in a field that is challenging, but also to create positive global transformations in the areas of health, policy, and education. I want to do the absolute best job that I can in working toward these goals and I believe the University of Maryland has given me the resources needed to accomplish my goals."
