"I signed up for the MSW program at UNE in early 2016. The course material was both challenging and interesting. I compare the course work to University of Victoria online that my spouse attended and Walden University that I previously attended to find the quality, quantity and difficulty of the work to be roughly equal. I was really excited about this university (UNE) as their reputation is very good. However, I was somewhat disappointed in the complex and confusing portal to access services. That is, the student services portal, blackboard, the library, the book store, finances and other services all operate independently. I realize this is how Brick and Mortar schools operate... each unit in a different building with its own network system and administrators (a series of small kingdoms)... it does get clunky and obstructive in the online space... that is, I felt continuously like I was burdened but he interface instead of focusing on the material I was learning. I completed 4 courses (all above 90%) but left the UNE for Walden due mostly to feeling like the interface clunkiness was holding me back and causing me undue stress. The faculty of UNE were top notch and the course material first rate, but I just did not feel part of a cohesive system of learning there."

"The University of New England's online Master of Social Work program has been accessible, challenging, and affordable. When looking for an online MSW program, I was also looking for an option that would allow me to study part-time as an Advanced Standing student (BSW recipient). Since I am paying for my MSW out of pocket, without loans, a part time option allowed a more affordable and manageable option. I have been challenged by the academics and found electives that supplement my concentration. I have been very satisfied with my time as a distance learning student at UNE."

"They were super supportive. I appreciated that they would call and check on me and how I was doing. I really felt cared about and not just like a number or a paycheck for them."

"I earned my Masters Degree in Social Work through an online program at the University of New England. It was great because I could learn and complete assignments on my own schedule. This was a must since I was working full-time and raising 2 young children. The instructors were all great as were my classmates. We communicated on the Blackboard forum, through e-mail, and through Skype. I loved the flexibility of the program and the fact that the school was accredited so that I could sit for the licensing exam in Michigan, even though the school is in Maine."

"I love UNE's online MSW program! The professors, advisors, and technology are all top notch. I had my reservations about doing an online MSW program, concerned that I wouldn't get enough hands-on attention, and I am so glad that my admissions counselor pushed me to apply and kept me informed on all the ways UNE creates a community, despite having classmates all across the country. I am enjoying my experience so far and cannot wait to keep learning!"

"As a military spouse, pursuing an education can be tremendously difficult. If you choose to have a career, you first must pick a career that is mobile or transferable. Once you decide what you want to do, you have to find the best path for your education. Originally choosing the traditional route of attending in person, I ended up having to transfer to move to a new duty station, and even though my new school maxed out my transferable credits I still had several classes to retake to meet credit requirements. It always seems like its two steps forward and one step back! Luckily, online education has really taken off and provides a more viable option for military members and spouses. After decided to pursue my Master's in Social Work I searched long and hard for a quality online program that would present me with the rigors equal to that of their traditional program. The University of New England has blown me away! The entire process has been exceptional! The process for applying is fairly straight forward, but still UNE assigns a counselor to work with you every step of the way. I created a great friendship with mine, and was elated when she called me personally to give me the news that I was admitted. Once you are in you are assigned an academic counselor and a program specific advisor. THEY CALL YOU several time before, during, and after the semester to check on your progress. They are very responsive if you have questions, and you really feel like they are rooting for you. The faculty is wonderful, and the classes are so challenging. I am truly learning more in this first semester than I feel I learned during my entire AA. The curriculum is really top notch, and I feel like I will be completely prepared and confident when I graduate. UNE has met and surpassed my every expectation."

"As a working adult and single parent, the decision to go back to school was not taken lightly. I needed a university that understood my academic and personal life goals. UNE was helpful right from the start. My email inquiries and voicemails were always returned within 24 hours and met with enthusiasm. My enrollment counselor made sure I understood the application process and helped me with editing my personal statement. Once I was accepted, she made sure I knew when and how to register for class and that I knew which books I needed and how to obtain them. I am very grateful for the University of New England for giving me a chance to pursue my dream career."

"I currently attend UNE online. There can be stigmas for online classes such as the feeling of isolation and feeling overwhelmed due to the lack of contact with other students and faculty. At UNE, faculty is in contact with me every week to make sure I am on track for my classes and am aware of the resources that are available to me. The faculty also make a point to put you in contact with other students so you may ask them questions about classes or just vent about life. Another reason why UNE is a good fit for students who want to attend online courses is that they require you to attend an online course, before you can begin your normal courses, that helps you to get in the swing of the online courses. It helps to explain how you are going to post discussions online and respond to other students, how to looks up articles, contact other faculty, how field study is going to work and how to submit papers. UNE wants you to succeed and gives you all the tools, it is up to you to use those tools."

"I loved the idea of gaining my master's degree online. I was able to work while going to school and raise my family all at the same time. I had advisors connecting with me regularly every semester. Reaching out for assistance from both professors and administrators was easy and they were both responsvie and helpful. I was sold on UNE after I had shown interest and received a call immediately the next day from an employee to help me get started. I was able to start in only a few months with little hassle."

"As an online student, I am not able to rate social life, safety, affordability of living and surrounding area. As online students, we are encouraged and invited to visit campus, take part in, and observe campus life. I love the orientation into the program. The orientation really prepare students for the actual campus. The support staff like enrollment advisors and academic advisors are really great at helping students enroll and register for classes. Although I am living quite a distance from the school and considered non-traditional, I feel like a valued student of the school. I am really loving my experience!"

"I love the program. The course work is challenging. The instructors make themselves available to the students. The only con is, as is natural to online studies, immediate feedback is not available and one needs to keep checking back for responses."
