"The benefit of OU's Advanced Programs is its intensive one-week course format that caters to full-time working individuals. I am able to complete the graduate degree in International Relations in a timely manner that doesn't interfere with my personal and professional life. Because the professors come from Oklahoma to my specific campus location, I am able to focus on the course content and jump right into the classroom. However, there are not many scholarship opportunities for graduate students located on campuses other than the main one in Norman, OK."

"The Museum Studies graduate program at OU is wonderful because I am able to earn my degree during my free time at home. Otherwise, I would not be able to physically attend a program because there is not one near me. I cannot speak about the campus because I have never been on the physical campus itself. However, the academic program is challenging me and I am able to complete an internship at a neighborhood museum while taking the distance courses."

"The application process for this program was less rigorous than other universities. Also, this university works very well with its military students. Financial aid is pretty much hassle free. I am taking online courses and find so far that the interaction between students and professors concerning course material does not consist of much discussion."

"Pros - Most of the classes can be taken online for many programs - Military students and dependents receive deep discounts, making school more affordable Cons - Most professors are also professionals and can be really difficult to get a hold of, which negatively impacts coursework - Some programs, like Museum Studies, don't seem to prepare you for ANY career in the field, but only for management or administration; there's no way to become a Collections Manager or Archivist."

"Pros - All coursework for Museum Studies and many other majors can be taken online - If you are active duty military or a dependent, there are deep discounts on tuition, making the cost of a higher education more affordable Cons - Because the professors are very frequently professionals in the fields they teach in, they are highly unavailable and take weeks to respond to students which is detrimental to coursework - The courses, at least for Museum Studies, do not seem to prepare students for ANY career in a museum, but only a management career or an administrative role"

"I am part of the Outreach Program provided for military members. OU has sent teachers to specified bases for week long sessions for students to complete their grad school. I absolutely love this option as opposed to completely online degree courses. We review the syllabus, content, selected readings, and submit papers via the D2L website, but actually having a teacher travel across the country to lecture and answer questions is something I have not seen from any other university. Because I deploy and travel often, having the ability to complete assignments online and have that structured week with the teacher has made my grad school experience easy and wonderful. Not to memtion, all the teachers I've had have been outstanding. I also went to the Norman campus for a night course and got to experience college life. I attended a football game and got to see the beautiful buildings and statues OU has to offer. No matter where I am in the USA, OU has catered to my education."
