"What I love about this graduate school program is the ability to help pay for out-of-state tuition. As a California native seeking a graduate degree, financial affordability was a primary factor in deciding which university I wanted to attend. The University of Vermont and the Higher Education program here provided me with a graduate assistantship that covers out-of-state tuition and provides me with a stipend that will cover the cost of housing accommodations. I could not be more thankful to have been chosen for such a competitive program."

"Professors and classmates know who you are and are committed to your wellbeing and success. Classes are taught by knowledgable instructor with extensive academic and professional experience. The location/university is not diverse, but has a strong sense of community and strong commitment to health and sustainability."

"Greatly designed program through UVM. Everything is set up and proven successful for each student. Professors really care about their students and provide them with a respectable workload. The main caveat is the cost of the program."

"I love everything about the program, honestly the only con is the cost for an out of state student."

"The university and surrounding community are highly supportive and welcoming, with an excellent social scene as well. The program itself is very well tailored and in depth, yet it opens up a wide range of opportunities for the graduate. Perhaps the only con is the cost of the program and living expenses. Burlington has a very competitive housing market, so student housing is costly, and UVM in general is notorious for it's high tuition costs."

"As far as MD's go, UVM meets all the criteria to provide a medical education. However, I felt they emphasized technology in their education over quality lecturers and patient-care during clerkships. The people in Vermont, including teachers, physicians, and patients, are all phenomenal people making the experience absolutely amazing. Administrative support is increasing with a new Dean of Students, but was more than disappointing during my attendance."

"Though it may not be well-known for its graduate program in English, the University of Vermont provided me with excellent instruction and the opportunity to teach in my own classroom. The Graduate teaching program was aggressive and supportive, and classes were small and dynamic."

"Being an off campus student, I was not able to answer several of the ratings. This should not determine the learning I received. I felt valued as a student and made strong relationships with several of the facility. I would recommend this graduate program to many."

"UVM is in the top 10 most selective medical school int he nation. it has an intergrated school based system which is much more effective from a learning standpoint than traditional medical schools. They are also advanced technologically using tablets during clerckship yeras and culturaly."

"A small number of graduate students means that getting into a dissertation lab is not competitive and stdents have a large range to choose from. The quality of research is also great."

"Excellent and supportive faculty; all have a desire to see you succeed and welcome collaborations and conversations between departments. The course selection is a limited due to the size of the program. The students are wonderful and incredibly supportive, and Burlington has a fair amount going on for its size."

"Many research opportunities and the faculty are very accessible, friendly and encourage collaborations. I am in a relatively small program, but I enjoy it very much and consider its size a "pro"."

"The Graduate Program in English Literature at the University of Vermont is a small program with about 20 students in the beautiful setting of Burlington, Vermont. The food, music, culture and outdoor surroundings of Burlington make an ideal college town though a little expensive. The program itself is very good with wonderful professors who make themselves very accessible to the students."

"Pros: - Small class size with huge personal attention from faculty - More availability of expensive equipment (fir the same reason - smaller class) - Program director is very ambitious and helps a lot on the way to a degree. Literally pushes you. - Great healthy location and safe neighborhoods Cons: - Cost of rent is ridiculously high. 800-1000 per 1 bedroom apartment."

"Great social environment. Students very, very supportive of each other's learning and progress. Fast-paced program, so the information load is heavy. But faculty are readily accessible and supportive."
