"I loved La Crosse. My only complaint was their disregard of greek life on campus causing its slow collapse and the loss of the philanthropies those organizations did. Though this community is not for everyone so it may not matter to some. Everything else about La Crosse was great from campus size to the teachers."

"I have a wonderful time at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The face that they had an accredidated business school gave me a lot of credibility. Being a state school it was very affordable and I was challenged in my classes and they prepared me and gave me a lot of real world experience for my career."

"UW-L is a prestige university that I am so happy I attended. The campus is absolutely beautiful with it be lined by both the bluffs and the river. The class size is medium size which makes it very easy to learn. The professors are so nice and personable and make it easy for you approach them."

"I entered the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in January of 1997 so please take this information with historical perspective as cell phones were not part of everyday life when I attended the school. Like any first time undergraduate college student, I was at a point in my life where I was trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. I didn't really have a passion for a career pursuit and just happened to select the major I did because I had an older cousin that had went through the program and she recommended it. After listening to her describe how involved her professors were with coursework, I decided to pursue the degree program (Recreation Management). I learned quickly that this career path was full of lively, energetic and fun-loving students. The program curriculum focused on preparing managers to develop and administer recreational programming for youth, teens, adults and senior citizens. This concept of community development helped me view the world as collaborative through engagement in play. A favorite quote of mine that I learned through my undergraduate studies was "You can learn more about a person during an hour of play, than in a year of conversation" - Plato. I believe this quotation summarizes my undergraduate experience in a nutshell and I would highly recommend the program for intellectual learning and self reflection of our true roles in life. I would caution students to make sure they have clearly identified pathways to employment. That is one area that I didn't spend a lot of time considering and found it challenging to find an entry-level position upon graduation. This led me to pursue graduate school and further my studies which opened a new career path in Facilities management.Read Less"

"The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is an excellent institution, well-equipped to prepare students of all backgrounds for a vast array of careers. I've personally found Career Services, German Department faculty, and general education instructors to be especially helpful. UWL was able to help me realize undergraduate options I did not previously think possible with my intended graduate school (attending PA School with a German Studies degree, for example). UWL is filled with passionate educators genuinely interested in the betterment of its student body. As a person heavily involved in both the College of Liberal Studies and the College of Science and Health, I can safely say the aforementioned statement does not apply to just one college. One potential drawback within UWL is its focus on student independence--I have found that those who succeed the most here are ambitious people willing to seek out assistance on their own. Student advisors will often only help students who reach out and schedule appointments with them. The same applies to professors in many of the larger departments. I have found this characteristic of the University to be advantageous, but not all may share this sentiment. Overall, I would recommend UWL to many students wishing to attend an affordable, beautiful University in La Crosse, WI. I have learned more about myself than I ever thought possible attending this institution, and I have no regret in selecting UWL as my college of undergraduate study.Read Less"

"The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is a smaller school with the maximum size of a class holding 100 students. Once you get into the Therapeutic Recreation program, you get to know all the professors and your cohort extremely well. Each class covers each criteria that you will have to know in order to take the exam. The program is well known by many of its internship agencies and the success rate for passing the national exam is high (85-95 percent). The professors take the time to get to know you personally and push each student to their maximum potential. You leave the program feeling well trained and ready for experiences within internship and when applying for jobs.Read Less"

"If you are looking for a great data science program, the University of Wisconsin La Crosse has a great one to check out! This program is completely online so it is very convenient for those that have a busy work/home life. Being online does not take away from the credibility of this degree. The courses are challenging and prepare you well for the real world. The professors are great and willing to help with any and all needs."

"UW La Crosse is a great school that offers many degree options. I chose to pursue a bachelor's in biology as a gateway to graduate school in a health profession. I am well prepared to begin my Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, using my degree from UWL."

"UW-L is a great campus to pursue a degree in Liberal Arts. One of the best aspects about UW-L is the class size. Classes are small, about 20 to 40 people depending on the class. Therefore you get more hands-on learning with classmates. Also the professors are great and are always there if you need to talk to them about anything. They really care about your education. I have only had 1 bad professor is the time I attended UW-L."

"I am so happy with my decision to earn my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The class sizes are small which allows you to build a relationship with your professor. None of the classes are taught by teaching assistants, only by the professor. The professors are available often for office hours and are always willing to help you succeed. The campus is small enough where you feel safe, and there is plenty to do in the La Crosse area, from bluff hiking and canoeing, to exploring historic downtown La Crosse!Read Less"

"It was a beautiful, safe and active campus with helpful and inspiring teachers. I loved hiking in the bluffs and the beautiful running trails within a walking distance from campus. I always felt safe and was encouraged to try new things and meet new people daily."

"The University of Wisconsin La Crosse has a beautiful campus and a great LGBTQ center called the Pride Center. Most instructors are very friendly and easy to approach, and the class sizes are not too big. Each class size consists of about 30 students. I really wish they would have been more realistic about what a bachelor's degree in Sociology has to offer in the real world (my BA is worth absolutely nothing in today's competitive job market)."

"Although it does not come with must prestige, it is a great school and can spring board you to a great future. Next year I will attend a prestigious graduate program, so it is not impossible to continue moving up after graduating from this undergraduate program. The teachers are particularly good."

There are an unimaginable amount of organizations for you to get involved in, there's something for every taste! The professors truly care about your success, and are helpful and understanding. Class sizes are relatively small, so you don't feel like just another student. The surrounding town is exciting and entertaining, so there's never a dull moment.
