"I think that if a person is absolutely sure of what they want to do and know they will make a good living, a university is a good choice. If they are not sure or choose a profession that is not going to be hugely profitable, they should go to a technical college and learn a trade."

"UW-Madison was supportive of international internship experiences and offered an excellent macro-social work program. It was a great school and carried good prestige for it's social work program."

"Pursuing my graduate education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was one of the best decision I've ever made. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew I was interested in public health, prevention, and the impact of globalization on health in the U.S. and elsewhere. The multitude of classes available to me within the MPH program helped my discover new interests, delve deeper into core subjects like epidemiology and public health policy, and develop my skills in a number of areas (academic writing, public speaking, & conducting literature reviews). Madison is also generally a wonderful place to live; there are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors, among them hiking/biking trails, the Memorial Union terrace, and Saturday farmer's markets. The city is large enough to have something new to do & discover every day, but small enough to feel a sense of community. I have loved every part of my experience here.Read Less"

"I was recently accepted into the University of Wisconsin - Madison's School Psychology PhD program, and will begin my doctoral studies this fall. Having already gone to Wisconsin for my undergraduate degree, where I studied psychology and communication sciences and disorders, I am well aware of the educational rigor, research excellence, and quality of instruction associated with UW-Madison. Particularly, what drew me to the School Psychology program, housed within the Department of Educational Psychology, was the variety of faculty profiles, breadth of research foci, educational opportunities tailored to each individual, and amazing practicum experiences available to students. I personally plan to focus my educational, research, and practicum experiences on better understanding and improving the lives of children with autism and neurodevelopmental disabilities, and have the goals of becoming a Licensed Psychologist and serving children and families through clinically-based practice and consultation services.Read Less"

"I truly enjoyed my time at UW-Madison. I had the opportunity to work with excellent faculty members working on a variety of projects, and to learn from their academic and field experiences. I also benefited greatly from the International Internship Program. I was selected for an internship with the government of Chile, and spent a summer working with them in Santiago. The university facilitated this internship partnership and made the process very straightforward and manageable. I was even able to receive credits towards my degree for this internship.Read Less"

"University of Wisconsin-Madison is a fantastic college with a great reputation in the Midwest and northeast. The school has strengths in certain areas including but not limited to engineering, economics, real estate, and finance. The atmosphere and culture of the school is great, but it is not the most diverse school in the Midwest region."

"Madison is a great place to go to school because of the combination of great academics and an awesome big college town. The school leads right up to the capital, which allows students to easily stay involved in protests/events happening there (such as the farmer's market on Saturday mornings). There are lots of resources, including student organizations for almost every possibly subject, to help you get involved in what specifically interests you!"

"Before I even applied for the program, some of the faculty for the program held an online chat session to discuss the focus and format of the program and also for prospective students to ask questions. This was very helpful in helping me feel more confident about choosing this major and opened my eyes to the opportunities available with this field of study. I chose the online format, rather than in-classroom because I wanted to continue working full-time at my present employer. The school holds a week-long "bootcamp" in Madison for the students that will be taking the courses online. They go through everything you need to know to be successful while taking courses online. They don't just expect that you should figure it out as the course moves along. It is also nice to be able to meet staff and students, which is unusual in an online format.Read Less"

"The University of Wisconsin-Madison is notorious for its rigorous curriculum, focus on giving back to the community, and challenging the status quo. Hailed as a public Ivy, UW-Madison lives up to its brand. The classes I took not only challenged me academically, but also emotionally and mentally. Despite the large class size when one is taking the general courses, the Teacher's Assistants take the time to build as much rapport as they can with their students: emailing them to inquire why their attendance have been low, encouraging constructive conversations, checking in with them during class time, etc. Though diversity is still an issue - with many allegations of racially charged incidents in the past - they are working towards building bridges to be as inclusive as possible. The Multicultural Student Center is noted for its programming that focuses on addressing racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, and a plethora of other discriminations that students face. Additionally, there are active cultural student organizations that seek to challenge single narratives of their culture. In recent years, UW-Madison has undergone a dramatic change to crack down on sexual assault in their community, predominantly in the Greek community. More students who have been assaulted are speaking up, and the University - while not all their responses have been appropriate - continues to seek new ways to protect victims and survivors. All in all, while UW-Madison does have its flaws, my experience there have impacted me to open my eyes to cultural diversity, protect and serve communities, and be a leader in today's society.Read Less"

"UW-Madison is the best school in Wisconsin. Not only are faculty world class but your peers and colleagues come from all walks of the life also. Great networking and research experiences especially for science majors. The university is also so vast where you can find a niche for any major of interest."

"The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a terrific school to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. One of the greatest things about UWM's DPT program is their small class sizes. The DPT class is between 23-27 students and this gives everyone the opportunity to have individualized instruction. Professors truly care about your success and will do anything to help improve your physical therapy skills in their state of the art facility. Students have access to numerous resources and have the opportunity to assist in research studies with professors. Being located in Milwaukee, the PT program is involved in many outside activities at local nursing homes, adult day centers, the Milwaukee Country Transit System, and with WASA. The curriculum is very challenging but you will be amazed by home much you learn in a short period of time. I'm so glad I chose UWM to pursue my graduate degree and I can't wait to see the opportunities that await me in the future.Read Less"

"While there is limited racial/ethnic diversity due to its location in the Midwest, there are great chances to experience gender, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, religious group, and culturally-related diversities in this city and the university does an excellent job of preparing students to confront these differences and learn how to function in today's society by examining past ways of thinking and challenging these by forming their own set of ideals and values throughout their undergraduate experience. The social, political, and environmental climate are all unique to Madison, WI, and I wouldn't change my experiences at this university for anything.Read Less"

The faculty at Madison went above and beyond to develop connections with students and ensure that each student was well-prepared for any career they wanted to pursue.
