Don't be fooled by reviews by bitter applicants or students who did not take this course seriously and failed out. This is a difficult program but so are all accelerated BSN degrees. There has been a shift in focus in St. Pete and with a whole new group of instructors focused on providing a relevant and effective nursing program. This program is hard. Very hard. I have a bachelor's degree in biology but this program teaches you how to think VERY differently! You cannot just do what you always have done in other programs. Nursing is different. Think about how you will need to act in the ER. You'll need to know how to think critically and act fast. It's not about memorization - there are several right answers - but you need to figure out what's the right answer for the patient in front of you. Don't try and work, have a life... PLEASE LISTEN. I was enrolled to start in 2 weeks and read all of these review but went with my heart. I was so wrong. We just got a email from the director that we have to do some background check for 170.00. While the money isn’t the issue when I called or emailed no one can tell me anything about this. I was convinced to attend this school based on false pretenses. I was told that the professors are always available to assist you if you need help. Don’t let them fool you. This school offers no support what so ever. Their excuse for everything is that they offer many resources. It’s beyond obvious that the resources don’t work. Then they act surprised when you get upset. Plus there are so many other things that are wrong with this school. Save yourself the aggravation and don’t go to Utica Miramar.

Do not go here if you have the option. Like others said, the school is more online than in person. First semester, we had 2 classes in person and 3 online. Patho, one of the most important classes for nursing, was online. Only thing we learned were th study guides for the exam. They have 1 online professor for 2-3 locations. So this 1 instructor lives in a satelite location and does a single 1hr skype lecture per week, and then a pre test review. There is no rapport. No learning about the ins and... Read More outs of nursing. 2nd semester, 4 out of the 5 classes are online. Pharmacology and OB/Labor delivery were online. Again, 2 major classes by online professors. How am I supposed to learn drug administration or giving birth via a youtube video? So thats what most kids did, used Khan Academy and Nurse Labs to learn, compared to the skype rundown. Obviously you learn more in clinicals, but its tough when you don't get proper instruction from the classes. Its set up where you just study for your 50question test, and don't learn. They want to save money by having a single class in 3 schools taught by 1 professor. The problems I had were more with the admin and set up. The in person professors did care about us. Admin only cared about the $. When they tell you they had a 100% pass rate one year on the NCLEX, only 4 people took it. In short, if you're a good student and are able to teach yourself on your own, you will pass and become an RN. Its a grind of 16months. Its doable, but almost 1/3rd of the class fails out or drops out. Avoid this program unless its yours only acceptance. You obviously learn the most stuff of nursing when you're on the job, but the school provides a poor base. Learning pharm and patho from online does not instill confidence.

Unfortunately this college is a money pit. I luckily dodge a bullet by pulling out. With having a master's degree, I still required 1 liberal arts course. I was accepted to another university so I attempted to drop the liberal arts program. The college pushed it into week 2, which requires no refund. I continued to get transfered to multiple parties where no one was able to fix the issue, or they would get back to me. I am now sitting in week 4 with no response from anyone, still enrolled in a course... Read More I requested dropped in week 1, and presently out 1000$. Not John, Jessica, Rosanna, Chris, or anyone I have delt with knows the answers. Which proves, this school is not about academics, but about keeping money and making money. Do not go here unless you have to. Over 50of the classes are online. Take 5 classes a semester, and only 1-2 is in person. The most important classes like Patho, Pharmacology and Obstetrics are all online classes. How can you expect people to learn when the professors do a skype class once a week and then just post a minimal study guide? How do you learn to give birth off online powerpoints? Instead of having an in person professor in NY and in FL, they just use 1 skype professor online. Let me start by saying this program is expensive! You pay $15,000 every semester and for what? The school is in an office building. There are no computers in school. Professors are online and teach you with YouTube videos. I dodged a bullet by not attending this program. I encounter problems before even starting the program. First, they told me I needed to retake a class, for what? Because they never asked me for the transcript. I spent $500 to retake classes that ultimately did not need to take.... But other than that, its not worth it. I looked at the reviews prior to applying to the program and they couldnt be more accurate. For the price you pay for the school, there shouldnt be no negative reviews, the school shouldnt be in a office building, and professors shouldnt be teaching with YouTube videos. Dont do it. Be patient and get yourself into a good nursing program.

If you have any self respect you will not do this program. I am currently a second semester student and honestly believe I am being set up to fail my classes and retake them so the program can get more money to build their new campus. The current campus is literally an office building. Every test we have taken this semester has not correlated with material we are told to study. Although this school is not for the faint of heart, it is a hybrid progressive and rigorous program. You have lab which includes lecture and Hands-On skills in an actual lab setting as well as multiple clinical and additional study / review sessions if requested. To get a four-year degree in 16 months requires a lot of work on the part of the student but the faculty that is currently in place as of January 2019 is more than fair and really make every effort for the student to be successful. Stay away from here. Do not believe a single positive review. It's a lot of money to teach yourself. More people are struggling day in and day out in this program. I feel like people make friends just to convince themselves that they're in a decent situation. It is BEYOND terrible... a) I was told I didn't have to retake certain classes, that I aced at my previous school and b) nobody sent out a school checklist before I drove from NY to FL. I am currently in this program and this is the worst decision Ive ever made in my life and as at now, Im just trying to get through because of the money Ive already invested but this program is the worst. This program gives students no support or whatever and youre basically left on your own . The director of this program barely responds to students emails about their concerns. They just give you text books for every class and you get assigned chapters every week to read and write exams and quizzes.... All the professors are in other states in the first place and only means to have a talk with a professor is through emails which some of them dont reply. The admission counselors lie to incoming students about the program, they just want peoples money. This program is literally one of the worst programs I've ever attended and they could care less that this is anyone's opinion. The school is majority online, the admissions reps will tell you there's a lab class where you get to interact more with your teachers and peers, but they set up lab to simply fulfil the lab requirements of this degree not because they have professors who are actually passionate about teaching or helping you through your journey of becoming a nurse. This school is so bad that in a cohort of 70 people only 2 people passed 1 an exam and when students complained they were told this school is not big enough to educate all the students that come here and that everyone isn't meant to be a nurse. So, in other words, they make exams to slowly ween people out of the program. I'm just so disgusted with some the faculty in this school that I felt compelled to write a review. Of course, I understand some people have to come here and you gotta do what you can to become a nurse but if you truly have options for nursing schools, please mark this one out of it.

If you are interested in the Utica College accelerated program (ABSN), look somewhere else. The dropout rate for this program is unbelievable. I have seen first hand as a student that the administrators of the program are miserable people who do things to benefit themselves and not the students. It is a money making business and they don't care about the success of students. They start each semester with many students but the number of those who actually graduate is far smaller.
