Read the reviews for the FNP program. I was drawn here by the promise of a hybrid program and the promise of support. THis was the worst mistake I have made and if I had not invested so much money in this program I would be attending somewhere else. I am just trying to get through. There is no support, you are basically self taught. if you have an issue and email a teacher, most do not get back to you. You are tested on material that you have not studied. Pharmacology, a class that is vitally important,... Read More does not even have a Zoom class attached to it, You read chapters and take quizzes. You have to maintain a separate 84% class and quiz average and if you fall below on either, you fail. The "teachers" do not teach any material but set you up to have plenty of petty busy work on top of reading hundreds of pages to have a quiz on Tuesday. Then they talk about having a school/life balance. The main form of communication is email and while maintaining your home and work life, their expectation is that you will be on the school email like it is your job. The thing I have learned is that this school only wants your money and does not care about producing quality FNPs. Find a school who actually does care investing in your career, stay away from here.

This is more like a teach yourself school. When I had an emergency family situation they were very uncaring and did not help me. I had to withdraw due to this family emergency and they still made me pay the bill even though I only attended 1 week of class. They do not want their students to exceed. I enrolled in the FNP program 3 years ago when it was just starting. I was intrigued by the online model, since it seemed easiest with a family and career. Huge mistake. Wish I would have transferred out. The other reviews are 100% true, this program is a money pitt. The tests are extremely difficult with no guidance from faculty. Please look into other programs before committing to this one.

I graduated in May and passed both ANCC and AANP the first try. I was prepared. I am doing good at my first job. I did not have trouble with the grading policy like is mentioned in some of the reviews. I think people see online and they think they can just buy the degree. I had to work hard, this program wasn't easy and they have high standards. Can't fake it till you make, I want to provide my patients wit the best care. MeeNah is the clinical coordinator and is the best, she really helped me with clinicals. I liked that I could meet the professors and classmates in the sync sessions. I love the tutor the school provided, never had that before in my AS or BSN. Give you the Barkley review for the boards. I did go PT at work the last two semesters, I couldn't work FT with clinicals.

READ THE REVIEWS!!! I ignored all these reviews thinking about how great it will be and I wont have any problems... everyone assured me that the Health Sciences program will get me where I want to be etc etc. Well they lied and their website is incorrect, I currently reside almost 4 hours away from Utica and chose their online Health Sciences program which I was told was all online and will set me up for success into their MS Occupational Therapy program. WRONG, so $6,000 later, my mental health,... Read More 16 weeks later to find out that 6 courses I need in order to graduate I cannot take online I have to take on campus. Excuse me??? They have it on their program website that they offered these online for the health sciences major just to find out that its only reserved for a certain group of people in the nursing program. Well what the hell? So essentially I would have to enroll in another college or multiple other colleges to complete my degree. Whose paying for all of this? Oh right, me. And not to mention I was told I could take other classes that would satisfy the Anatomy and Physiology course by taking a Drug and Society course. Awesome, can't wait to be an Occupational Therapist who does not know the anatomy of the body. Nobody that I talk to there can truthfully answer how this had happened, then I was told that maybe my enrollment counselor was only familiar with the on campus program not the online.. so go ahead and sell me misinformation then instead of telling me you don't know. I keep asking for a number on who I can speak to regarding this huge mistake and can't see to get a number. Please please pick a different college, I am not sure how their on-campus programs are but for the love of god please do not attend their online program. I have decided to withdraw from the college after this semester, they were my only hope for a career change. Unfortunately I cannot any other colleges as for they are all on campus and Utica was my only chance. Thanks for nothing Utica.

Review from a current student and RN manager: I am so beyond disappointed in Utica University . NOT a university for working parents or people with a busy lives ... seems like you need to know how to run a the bureaucratic side of a university in order to attend ... They have student success couches(ssc) who, as afar as I can tell, are only helpful if you want someone to pick out and register you for all your courses although they are at least nice people in that department. None of the departments... Read More communicate with each other, The finical aide office (FAO)is awful. I have spoke to a few very rude and at time condescending women in that department. The registers office(RO) is lacking. If you need something from either department expect it to take days to weeks for any issues to be sorted out. When dealing with FAO or the RO you are unlikely to have questions answered in full or in a timely manner or any real help given. I have found that no one seems to know enough about anything too help students out if they have any unexpected life issues come up they requires a change in the standard schedule. Basically I have found they will not give you any extra information that will help you manage your collage experience or make decisions when things do not go exsactly as planned or even when you think everything is "normal" then surprise, come to find out 3 departments cannot do simple things . The SSC do seem to try but they seem disorganized with a high turn over I have had three success couches in 2 years and in the past week have spoken with 3 different ones. There seems to be a communication failure within that department. Also the bookstore is helpless and the included book fee seems like a scam. The nursing electives and required classes are all over the place in quality and style. Literally have gone from classes requiring 5 posts and a paper per week for an A with 2 books to 2 post and no books and they are equal in credit value.. go figure. Also there are some really great instructors there who do genuinely care about the student and teaching , but far more who seem indifferent .So fellow RN's I do not recommend this university anymore as the befits of a the BSN on MSN programs are far outweighed by the lack of quality and consistency in the university its self.

Fraud, the first word that comes to mind. As far as the St. Pete accelerated BSN program, you are enticed to come here and assisted every step of the way during the admission process. Once you're in, it's a sham. Everyone in this program already has a bachelors degree and met the prereqs. and admissions standards to get in, yet the transfer, withdrawal, and failure rate of each cohort is very high. Read More receiving little support in your online courses, getting zero support from your " success coach", minimal clinical experience,and dealing with staff from financial aid and administration that offers no assistance, then good luck. If you pose a question to financial aid about, for example, your loan money being withheld,you will get a canned response back quoting school policy. Also, because most students here have heavily borrowed to come here and have relocated from other parts of the country. ,they will do ANYTHING to succeed,including cheating which Utica cant quite figure out how to resolve. What kind of nurse does this school produce? I have transferred to a different nursing school in Florida and the comparison of education ,learning and clinical prep is night and day. Okay, first let me start off by saying I NEVER in my life gave a bad review. I'm the type of person who notices I overpaid at the store, and I'd rather go home than deal with the fuss, just to give you an idea. There is a revolving door for instructors at this school. The rest of the instructors are moody and have attitudes. Get ready and start learning how to kiss ass now if you enroll! They will FAIL you if you don't. There was a misunderstanding in my clinical section, and instead of the clinical instructor addressing the issue, she decided to fail the student because she disagreed with her! If 60K sounds like a good price to teach yourself, kiss ass, and have a migraine from the chronic disorganization, and lack of communication- than this is the perfect program for you! My only regret is not being able to time travel into another program!!!

I was convinced to attend this school based on false pretenses. I was told that the professors are always available to assist you if you need help. Don’t let them fool you. This school offers no support what so ever. Their excuse for everything is that they offer many resources. It’s beyond obvious that the resources don’t work. Do not go here if you have the option. Like others said, the school is more online than in person. First semester, we had 2 classes in person and 3 online. Patho, one of the most important classes for nursing, was online. Only thing we learned were th study guides for the exam. They have 1 online professor for 2-3 locations. So this 1 instructor lives in a satelite location and does a single 1hr skype lecture per week, and then a pre test review. There is no rapport. No learning about the ins and... Read More outs of nursing. 2nd semester, 4 out of the 5 classes are online. Pharmacology and OB/Labor delivery were online. Again, 2 major classes by online professors. How am I supposed to learn drug administration or giving birth via a youtube video? So thats what most kids did, used Khan Academy and Nurse Labs to learn, compared to the skype rundown. Obviously you learn more in clinicals, but its tough when you don't get proper instruction from the classes. Its set up where you just study for your 50question test, and don't learn. They want to save money by having a single class in 3 schools taught by 1 professor. The problems I had were more with the admin and set up. The in person professors did care about us. Admin only cared about the $. When they tell you they had a 100% pass rate one year on the NCLEX, only 4 people took it. In short, if you're a good student and are able to teach yourself on your own, you will pass and become an RN. Its a grind of 16months. Its doable, but almost 1/3rd of the class fails out or drops out. Avoid this program unless its yours only acceptance. You obviously learn the most stuff of nursing when you're on the job, but the school provides a poor base. Learning pharm and patho from online does not instill confidence.
