"VCU has an amazing grad program and the school of social work is awesome. The professors are always there for you and the workload is not busy work. You really gain a lot of knowledge from the work you complete."

"Pros: Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program is highly ranked and has very productive faculty in research. Program has a very strong Health Psychology, Multicultural, and community outreach emphases. Great mentor matching program following the Scientist-Leader-Practitioner model. Excellent student population diversity inclusive of minorities. Generous funding and opportunities for a variety of professional experiences. Integration with and accessibility of medical campus and facilities. Easily accessible by car for commuters. Amazing restaurants close by and a variety of nightlife. Cons: Busy metropolitan area with high crime rates. Campus is not insular, but rather dispersed throughout the city. Some of the oldest building do not have wireless internet or sufficient technological services. Difficult to find reasonably priced housing in safe areas which are convenient to campus. Parking is limited and expensive."

"I love my program - it's the perfect fit for me. I am just not a fan of Richmond, and the undergrads here are dreadful. TA-ing for them is a real struggle - they are very entitled and not held to a high standard."

"VCU's graduate program is extremely rewarding for the student. Not only is the student given an excellent education, the student is also placed in an academically-rewarding community of the other graduate students. The faculty and other graduate students are encouraging, motivating and supportive, which enhances the graduate school experience."
