"Pros: Cost of living is cheap, beautiful area, enough commercial business to find everything you need, new building will have very nice labs, supportive faculty Cons: Stipends are low, old building is terrible, no city life"

"The faculty are supportive and accessible, but the other aspects of the university (e.g., social, dining, housing) are not quite as good, especially on-campus housing (and dining) being very expensive."

"This is generally a very good school of high standards especially for CS. There are very good faculty with experience and with strong emphasis in HCI. It is basically research-oriented, although there are quite a lot of coursework as well."

"Virginia Tech is located in a small town, which is not very convenient if you like to travel around. The facilities in some buildings, such as Smith, are fairly old, making you feel you were back to 1970."

"Virginia Tech is a great school. It is a big university with a lot of resources set in a small town- encouraging a lot of friendly communication and a slow pace of life. Academia is built on teamwork not individual competitiveness. People here are also crazy about football! Great place to study and live."
