"The Master of Professional Accountancy offers a wide variety of courses while also preparing the student for the CPA exam. The program is a short, 3 semester program that is also affordable. Many ways to pay for the schooling are also available. Morgantown is a cheap, relatively safe place to live with an incredible spirit and student life. There is always something to do. The business school has been recently updated and the technology is well-suited to the students' needs. The faculty are always reachable for questions and are very friendly across the board. The con of the program is that it may not provide an extraordinary amount of value. The graduating students tend to go to similar companies that they would have out of undergrad. The MPA does however fulfill the 150 hour requirement."

"The pros is that I will get a degree that will open doors outside the United states but it is ridiculous that with a degree granted by the University I cannot work here in the States. All the courses given by the university have been very useful with the goal ahead. The professors are well equipped, some of them are very humane but some of them lack the humane part."

"Faculty knowledge and expertise in the subject matter areas as can be surmised from their research publications, is quite remarkable."

"Being in a college town, one can expect the affordibility of living to be high. On top of that, there was no state financial aid for graduate students, as told to me by the financial aid office at the university. Other than costs of living, this graduate program meets all my expectations and needs as well as more. I am proud to say that I attend WVU and I am in the Occupational Therapy Program. WVU emphasizes the importance of community service as well as academics, and because of that, I wish to start my career in the great city of Morgantown, WV where I will always be a Mountaineer!"

"The School of Music at West Virginia University has a healthy graduate student population. This gives students the opportunity to expand the basis of their future professional network while still in school. The faculty are incredibly talented and intelligent individuals who offer challenging and interesting courses. It is also clear that the faculty are invested in the student's success beyond WVU. While the location of the school is not ideal for students looking to find paying music gigs, the learning and networking opportunities are priceless."

"I rated my program based on my opinions of the categories, so others may feel differently. I feel that some faculty/admins could have more open schedules for meeting with students and that scheduling of exams could be done a little better, which could benefit the course, student, and overall, the school's image since some of the most difficult exams are lumped back to back and that forces a time management dilemma. The biggest drawback is that there never seems to be enough time to do all the studying you are expected to have done with your time outside of class. None of us has a found an efficient time management system to be able to do it all due to the fact there isn't enough time in the day when you have school 8-5 M-F then have to find time for sleep and exercise, cooking, cleaning, etc. after you have spent most of what is left of your day studying. It is typical to have many nights of 2-3 hrs of sleep just trying to get all the studying in since we have at least 2 tests on a weekly/biweekly basis, with a high of 5 tests in one week - not midterm/finals week either. Most of the professors do well in presenting lectures and make appropriate use of technology and their tests correlate with what they teach for the most part. There is the occasional day where you can breathe or your brain has shut itself down, forcing you to relax. There are some things in the program that could be done more efficiently, but there will always be something you don't like."

"The Professional Writing and Editing program at WVU is very small. That is the con. There aren't very many students in it and the course work could use some help. I feel there could be other required classes that would leave me better prepared."

"As I have been through my first year in my Graduate Program of Industrial Hygiene, I feel that I have made the right decision. The professors want you to learn both in class and with hands on experience. I feel that the program helps students prepare for real life experience in a way that challenges individuals. However, the expectations are never more that you can handle. The only issue with the program would be that it is rather small and there are not a lot of Financial Aid opportunities within the department. The other issue is that classes get changed around and are only offered at certain semesters which could cause problems with graduating on time. However, I still feel that when I graduate, I will have marketable skills that employers will be seeking."

"You have to be able to balance your social life and the graduate program. Morgantown is a "party" town so you have to be able to handle yourself."

"As the "#1 Party School," we certainly know how to have fun. There isn't a school that can beat the electricity and passion that is almost palpable during a WVU athletic event. TV has glorified a negative stereotype of West Virginia, and WVU often gets, "Buckwild," confused with the great academic institution WVU strives to be. Inappropriate undergraduate actions often cloud the many accomplishments our distinguished graduates continue to achieve. This often overshadows the rapport and quality of the many graduate programs offered at WVU. My graduate program has a rich history in the ever competitive business and management industry. We have distinguished faculty who undoubtedly ensure we succeed. We have strong partnerships with many Fortune 500 companies. Hundreds of employers make recruiting trips and conduct various seminars to make sure WVU graduates in my program are equipped with the knowledge and skills to be a cut above the rest. The only con I can think of at WVU is the PRT (Personal Rapid Transit system). It breaks down every once in a while. The upside to this, is the option to take the bus and the ability to drive to and from class. Morgantown is a small town with big city influences, that continue to develop. Good people, rich history and a fun time will sum up your graduate career at West Virginia University."

"This is a program that is nationally ranked. It is a five-year program that continues from undergraduate courses. One additional year, will give you the opportunity to receive your Masters degree."
