"I have only taken two courses at Western Michigan and I have been slightly disappointed with them. The standard of teaching is lower than that at my undergraduate university. However, I have encountered several very competent professors and look forward to taking courses from them. I feel that the overall program is well put-together and I am excited to complete it. Western Michigan has also been great at working with me on financial aid. I had to adjust my aid a couple of times and they were gracious and worked with me to get the best package for my needs."

"WMU's Education Leadership Program offers a variety of real life experiences from full-time or adjunct professors who have served in various capacities in the public school systems across the United States. They are able to provide a well rounded learning experience using many of their personal experiences as the backdrop to promote student learning. Classes are easily accessible and structured to accommodate prospective students who are currently in a career."

"So far, I have very few qualms with my master's program. The professors have been extremely knowledgeable and approachable, thus far. I am content with my course selections and am intrigued to learn more. I appreciate the fact that there are many diverse programs within one main Counseling Program, so students receive a broad understanding of the helping profession."

"The program is very holistic to the industry. The courses offered cover a wide range of topics and are very help ful for a career in the printing, packaging and paper industry. WMU is a research university and has a great scope for research. The students are always encouraged to publish papers and do more research. However there is very few support for future career exploration. Students are left in a fix as to where to apply and where not to apply. There are companys outside seeking such multi tasking professionals however the connection does not get through most of the time since students do not get the right contact."

"I really enjoy WMU so far. I enjoy that the have multiple programs for different student needs. For instance, they have advanced programs and also programs for people who work full time. I have found this to be extremely beneficial and would choose WMU for an MSW anyday!"

"The most salient pro that comes to mind is the diversity in my program. I am aware as a counselor that I will be encountering many individuals from different cultural and even socioeconomic backgrounds than myself. Having a diverse array of students in the programs helps me to consider may issues that I may not be as competent in. A con I would say is the lack of help one receives from the staff. As far as the programs goes I had to speak with other students in the program about how to gather enough credits to graduate and what classes to take and when to take them."

"The campus I attend is not the main campus. Therefore, affordability of living depends on your commute and personal choices of where one chooses to live. The program is outstanding and accredited. The professors care about the students' academic progress and are very accessible."

"My program has excellent professors with a high level of real-life experience. My program is ideal for working adults in terms of scheduling and time. The course materials and classes are quite expensive."

"Pros: Accredited, many adjunct faculty who bring real world experience and information to the classroom. Cons: Expensive, tedious, limited resources for satellite campus graduate students (no library loaning, have to go to campus 45 miles away to acquire texts.)"

"I am enrolled in the MSW program at WMU's regional site in Benton Harbor. I feel that the limited options provided and limited supports offered do not compare to those offered to the main site's student body. I feel that this is a disservice, due to the fact that we at the regional site pay a larger tuition for this "privilege.""

"The Counseling Psychology program at Western University Michigan is an excellent program. The emphasis that is placed on diversity is one of the things that drew me to this program. They are on the cutting edge of technology, with the new building, and high-tec clinic. Most importantly, they provide an environment where students feel supported. I have no doubt in my mind that this is the program for me and I would recommend anyone interested in Counseling Psychology to apply."

"The Higher Education & Student Affairs program at WMU provides students with the perfect combination of practice and theory. There are many opportunities to find graduate assistanships that help to pay for education, and provide real hands on experience that will aid once one enters into the student affairs field. Overall, the Western and Kalamazoo communities are inclusive and allow students to get a quality education in a very welcoming environment."

"The graduate (MBA) program at Western Michigan University has been both challenging and gratifying to this point. The professors are well-educated and informed and really care about the success of their students. The course load is challenging, but not overwhelming. I have enjoyed my time in this program as the professors are top notch and the students enrolled truly want to be there, which leads to much greater class involvement and interaction than what was experienced during my undergraduate work. My only wish is that the university did more to provide organizations with the value of the MBA and organize more recruitment events from top-notch companies."

"Western is one of the top PA graduate programs and strives to continue this standard. The facilty and staff are reachable, approachable and candid. The PA program is focused on one area of campus so traveling and looking for parking spots is not an issue. Cons...it is school and studies and stress are part of that. No cons really."
