"Would you get the same degree if you could start over?I would not choose a different degree - history has given me the tools to analyze the past and take those lessons forward with me in my future. What advice can you offer other students?Live it up - you only have four years. make them your best."

"Tell us about your college experience.Lots of fun, made incredible friends, got to play sports at the NCAA level.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?Probably. I really love the study of sociology. It's fascinating and insightful. It applies to so many types of careers - research, public policy, social work, politics, writing, teaching. What advice can you offer other students?Do what you love and don't let someone convince you that you should follow a certain path because you will make a lot of money or be successful. Whatever career or college or degree you chose, it should be your choice and you should follow your heart. You will be the happiest that way."

"Tell us about your college experience.Whitman was a perfect fit for me! I enjoyed every minute that I spent there. The relationships students form with peers and professors are amazing, and Whitman offers support and opportunities for growth very frequently."

"While I loved my time at Whitman (beautiful campus, challenging academics, great college experience), I found my degree itself did not help give me any valuable knowledge or experience for a career other than critical thinking. The only way in which going to Whitman helped me in the job application process is name recognition because the employer knew Whitman is a good school. Another issue I found while attending Whitman is that although the professors are extremely intelligent, some were not the best instructors. That being said, the dorms are beautiful, the library is open 24/7, and there's a fantastic health center. Not to mention, if you're into outdoorsy things, they've got a great outdoor program with a large rental shop for outdoor trips."

Degree: Liberal Arts
Graduation Year: 2009
""Expanding your horizons" sounds cliche, but this is truly what an education at Whitman College will do. Pursuing a Liberal Arts degree may seem like a hard thing to justify in terms of practical benefit in this economy. But I found that it's helped me develop the most essential qualifications to any profession--critical and analytical thinking. If time and money permits, and if you'd simply like to become a well-rounded person, I highly recommend Whitman College. That being said, they have a long way to go in improving their Career Center services. If you're looking to get a job quickly after going to Whitman, you're not going to have much institutional help."

"I will always sing Whitman's praises but I know that you get as much as you put into it. I found that my degree is not the easiest degree to pitch on a resume but it was fairly easy to explain all the skills I felt Whitman had provided me with that made me qualified for the job. I also think it went a long way to have a degree from Whitman if the person knew of Whitman or another Whitman graduate. The school and its graduates have a great reputation in the Seattle area. I imagine it would have been more difficult if I moved out of state."

"If you're looking for a place to get a liberal arts degree (and, let's face it, times being what they are...that might not be the best move), look no further than Whitman. The campus is beautiful. The students are down to earth and smart, and the instruction is top notch. I loved my time at this school."
