"I am in love with the program because it is the perfect mix for what I want to do. I love that it mixes Professional and Technical Writing with Communications and Marketing. It has been a little difficult for me to adjust though because I was not a Communications undergrad, and I don't know many of the theoretical aspects of Communications. My undergrad is in Professional and Technical Writing so I at least have a leg to stand on."

"I will be starting the clinical and mental health counseling program this fall. This is purely based on what I know of the area and the little experience with Youngstown State that I currently have. The professors and advisors are super helpful and approachable. The communication to students is not. It took me over a month to schedule classes because my advisor was not currently in session. The area is not the safest, which is why it is so affordable to live there. There are also not many jobs in that area, which is why I have decided to stay in Akron and commute. They do have parking but I do not know about on campus transportation."

"The counseling program at YSU is phenomenal. What I have learned will help me exponentially in the school counseling field. The professors are helpful and the courses are rigorous."

"This medical program has been a wonderful experience. Since the program is so small, I have become best friends with my 30 classmates. The faculty are wonderful and incredibly helpful as are other students. Unfortunately, the area surrounding the school is limited and there is not much to do in the area. Overall, i have loved my experience here."

"Despite what people say and think about Youngstown State University, the Biology department and faculty is top notch. The professors are amazingly knowledgeable about their specific fields and come from a variety of different educational backgrounds and locations. Professor’s education past varies from Cambridge to Ohio University, which enables students multiple different lenses to look through concerning biology and the sciences in general. I whole heartedly believe that you would be hard pressed to find a better biology/premed/graduate program in terms of knowledge base and professor accessibility and mentorship."
