The campus is beautiful, and everything is easily accessible. Unfortunately, this is just about the only positive thing I can say about the school. Tuition is astronomically high, especially since the living conditions aren’t particularly livable. From mold in the dorms, to roaches, to fellow students who have no concept of how loud they are, and can’t grasp the thought of a “ shared living space”, on campus living is not it. Then whenever you have to contact someone when you have an issue with your account, best case scenario is you will be flat out ignored. Most likely you will be put on hold for hours, and if and when you finally get through to someone, they will give you the run around and not help at all. And don’t get me started on the constant threat of fines or penalties for incredibly minor offenses. Also, for such an expensive school, there’s no guarantee that the toilets will flush, sinks will come on, elevators, lights, school wifi, or even the vending machines will work. Clark was my first choice school. I’m grateful for the friendships I’ve made, and the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone. Unfortunately, after my freshman year, I’ve been disillusioned, and I will be transferring schools.

I chose to go to CAU because of the great history that this HBCU holds in the course of African American history, and because you take classes at each of the other HBCU's at the Atlanta University Center and Georgia State University. On a personally level I became pregnant and was diagnosed with a chronic illness in my junior year and my department professors were extremely supportive of me and helpful. It has been over 20 years and I still remain in contact with the department chair today.
