Every year on October, I observed the same medical team share incredible stories that empowered my entire family. I learned to cherish every year of healthy family members. Since that moment I wished to make a difference in the medical field as a nurse. I chose to attend to community college to expand my vocational nursing education from a Licensed Practical nurse to a Registered nurse at Florida Southwestern State College (former Edison State College). I always had the dream of going away for college and I worked extra hard in high school to achieve that. Unfortunately, my family and I were not financially ready for such a change after only being in the United States for 4 years. A few years later, once I was economically stable I committed to start my nursing career at FSW. A community college offers a great variety of majors and minors that are transferable to Florida universities for a more affordable credit hour cost. The Associates in Science Nursing at FSW is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Education In Nursing. I have been at scholar at FSW since fall 2013, and I am pleased with the college system and the educational approach faculty and extra resources available to me. In spite of the smaller size of campus and classes, the student services association thrives to deliver several weeks of fun and stress relieving techniques for spring and winter breaks.The nursing program of FSW has a variety of professors that do only their best to help you succeed as a student nurse. I am getting an education and participating in the activities I once hoped as a high school student eight years ago. I currently work with Alzheimer's patients in a memory care facility, and the joy obtained from the union of my career and my passion is astonishing. The challenging part of my job is to know the correct time to target the aggression and anxiety before is harmful to others. Nonetheless, the greatest reward of working with Alzheimer's patients is the spontaneity of stories and love.
