John Carroll University was a school that challenged me intellectually and pushed me socially and emotionally. The Sociology and Criminology department, headed by Dr. Harris, forced me out of my comfort zone, making me experience my learning first hand. Throughout the many courses that I took, I had to go out into the field and actually learn; I did not just sit in a lecture hall and take notes every day.
