I attended the classes for HVAC and refrigeration after getting out of the Navy. (I did attend AC&R school in the Navy too) I am reviewing my experience for LA Trade Tech as a retired hvac&r technician, business owner, and employee of other companies. When I started in the trade it did not pay very much. I could see a future in it because of food refrigeration, so I spent a lot of time concentrating on that part of the trade. I highly recommend this school based on my own experience and where the education took me in life. I should note also that this was part of an apprenticeship program sponsored by Local Union 250 in Los Angeles, where I attended classes two nights a week and worked in the daytime with journeymen, learning the trade. My sponsor company was an excellent one for education and training, Southland Heating and Air Conditioning. (May be Southland Industries now) School is what you want it to be. I wanted to know all I could because I wanted to be the best at what I was getting ready to do. I PAID ATTENTION! AND I never missed a class regardless of how hard it was to get there, and trust me, it was not always easy. During the Watts Riots my car decided to have two flat tires on the 405 freeway almost at the same time. Not a great time or place to hitch-hike but I did. Got to Orange County at 5am and had to ride to Riverside for work at 7am. But I didn't miss school, and I didn't miss work. Again, to make it work, pay attention! No texting, no phones. An education is just that. Treat it well and it will treat you well for a lifetime.
