PNCA is a wonderful school that truly supports their graduate candidates during and after completion of the program. Being in my second and final year about to enter thesis semester, I feel I have a great grasp on what my program has to offer. PNCA MFA in Visual Studies is an interdisciplinary program, with students ranging in mediums to photography (myself) to performance art, sculpture, painting, video installation, and much, much more. The studios that we share is always a buzzing place of productivity... Read More that is inspiring and encouraging. The alumni from my program have gone on to esteemed jobs in their field ranging from successful art practices and collegiate professor positions. We have a visiting artist program that brings in artist's in their particular field who speak to their current practices. We are also able to apply for a competitive slot to have these artists come into our space for studio visits, something I find most valuable to our specific program. With every great program there are cons, mostly the availability for graduate students to technology and access to facilities on campus. There seems to be limited and no better privileges than the undergraduates who may tend to be less responsible in utilizing the facilities. Overall though, I feel very happy and constantly assured that I made the correct decision in attending PNCA and its MFA in Visual Studies program. I strive from the exposure to artists working in all disciplines and the faculty and staff who are all successful and skilled in the field.
