At the time I studied nursing, University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) was one of the top baccalaureate programs in the country according to the National League of Nurses. I moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland and relocated to attend school. I even waited a year, as I was accepted, but the class was full until the following year. Read More week orientation program for critical care that was pass or fail. I passed orientation, which allowed me to start intensive care nursing in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. That was the start of my critical care career, that lasted 20 years. University of Maryland School of Nursing prepared me to move onto and work in one of the best institutions in the world. I am proud to say University of Maryland School of Nursing is still at the forefront of nursing education. Clinical simulation labs are state of the art in areas of hospital, critical care, operating room, pediatrics, maternity, home care and health assessment settings. The program prepared me well for the demands of my career. Currently, I returned for a graduate program in nursing informatics, and it still remains one of the best programs in the country. I feel fortunate to be a part of its legacy as University of Maryland School of Nursing was founded in 1889 by Louisa Parsons, a graduate of the Nightingale Fund School at St. Thomas' Hospital in London.

The law school offers 3 degrees (JD, LLM, and MSL) and I was an MSL student. The MSL students are definitely treated like second class citizens. In fact, most of our classes did not even take place at the law school --- they took place at another location and that in and of itself was very disappointing. Except for a couple occurrences, we were never actually at the law school. One of the Dean's talks down about the MSL program which is not confidence inspiring. I did think that some of the professors were very good and am glad for that. At commencement, there are no honors or awards for the MSL students -- unlike the JD students who receive all sorts of honors, awards, cum laude, summa cum laude etc.. Overall, I learned a lot, but was still very disappointed in the program.
