"The MBA program at GCU is a joke and representative of a diploma mill. First, they accept international students who do not speak or understand the english language, yet somehow achieve 100 percents on discussion questions and quizzes. Second, I was charged an additional $550 upon graduation if I wanted my degree because of "financial loan errors" - my student advisor's exact words. Third, I was sold that I could obtain a double emphasis and it would appear on my MBA degree; stupid me again. No such luck. Sadly, this so-called Christian school takes you for a ride through hell and then dumps you at its half-acre. Lastly, it turns out that no employer values a business degree from GCU. STAY AWAY!"

"I have enjoyed the layout and the community that is formed within this school. I have even enrolled in a second program with the university to continue my education. The professors and classmates are thoughtful, thought provoking, and really take education seriously. The counselors are very helpful and go out of their way to meet your needs."

"If I could use one word to describe GCU, it would be TRASH! Don't attend this school if you want a good education. You'll never hear from your advisors and they will be extremely rude with you when you do get in touch with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Just starting the bridge program for the masters of accounting. When I asked my adviser about how many students does he know, completed the bridge program and have taken and passed the CPA exam? His answer is he does not know and unsure if any student has ever passed the CPA Exam that he has advised. Are you kidding me?!?!?!? The only reason I started the program is my work pays the majority of the tuition. I talked to my good friend that completed his masters of taxation at a well known public university. When asking him about my masters program, he laughed at me. He said I would need to build up my career to get any use out of my masters of accounting degree from GCU. He said they only hire people from universities that actually have accounting programs. People with these paper mill degrees need the work experience to get a job at his company. Not sure if this is the best choice for me, but my work is covering about 70% of the cost. I still might pull out of the program. Not sure why I would stress myself out over a degree that is probably not worth the paper it is printed on."

"Let me preface my review by stating that I received my bachelor's in a traditional setting, on campus, from a quality institution; the experience there taught me what the college experience should be like. After the birth of my daughter I became a temporary stay-at-home mom and decided to further my education online; GCU promised quality education in a convenient format. GCU is a diploma mill and nothing more; I have so many stories that could serve as an anecdote for this. If you do the work and submit something you'll usually get a 100% on the assignment. If the professor is trying to seem alive or interested in teaching the course they might ding a few points off arbitrarily, but you're getting an A nonetheless. The professors rarely read what you submit; I've submitted a few assignments where I KNEW my answers were wrong and I've still been given a 100. There was a paper assignment for one of my courses that I particularly enjoyed writing and, when the assignment was returned to me, I eagerly looked for my instructor's comments. The paper that was returned to me wasn't even mine but that of another student's. I read it, it was barely literate and scarcely answered the paper's prompt. The student was given 100% for something any undergraduate school would have failed outright. Not only are the professors careless in their grading but careless in their instruction as well. Learning is done exclusively through the text book; if you're not someone who can learn from the book alone well you're SOL. If you have a question, god forbid, the turn around time on answering it is usually longer than the week long module and by the time they answer you're onto the next topic. I once had a question about the accounting concept behind a problem on a particular assignment and was told to "do my best" and nothing more. Never in my academic experience have I been rejected for help by a professor before; yet I witness this on a nearly weekly basis as my fellow classmates ask in vain for assistance or understanding on the forums. The 8 week online courses are notoriously inflexible- if you're looking for something where you can go at your own pace, look elsewhere. To get full credit for the weekly discussion questions and participation you must post a minimum of 5 times on 5 different days. You're stuck committing to being online 5 days a week which can be a real hassle if you're traveling or working. For whatever reason assignments cannot be submitted early (explain that one to me) and you're expected to adhere to the class's rigid time table with no exceptions. 8 weeks goes by far too quickly and it's far too short a time to devote any significant amount of time to the important material covered. I am now one class away from receiving my master's degree and I have a 4.0 GPA. I would say that I am absolutely unprepared to enter the work force and perform accounting work; I have learned precious little and retained even less. I could never, ever, hope to take the CPA exam, which GCU's program description assured me I'd be ready to do by the end of my studies. Take heed and read the reviews here, save your time and money and look elsewhere for your education."
