"GCU's Masters Degree programs do not instill learning but rather instill arduous, meaningless busy work to try and change your learning style to match theirs. Every single class structure is the same... (2 discussion board posts with 3 replies to each discussion board that MUST be posted at least one day apart as well as one paper a week.... EVERY week) It reminds me of past elementary schools that educated students to become factory workers with their one way or the highway approach. The courses do not allow for creativity or divergent thoughts, just turning in work on time. For example, in one class, I submitted the entirely wrong assignment for the week and realized it a day later. Panicking, because it was worth 100 pts, I attempted to resubmit. After logging in I realized that my professor had not only graded it, but I received a 100, for a paper from an entirely different class, one year prior. It was then that I realized that GCU is not about furthering your knowledge and allowing for diverse thought, but rather providing their students with boring, regurgitated assignments that will only lead to imposed deadline syndrome. Enjoy."

"I attended a fully online program at Grand Canyon University. Online classes were just as rigorous and informative. I was assigned a local mentor who checked on me every quarter and offered referrals for tutoring and employment with local counties. GCU has a partnership with the local educational agencies so completing internships and observations was an easy process. Due to their relationships with local education agencies I was also able to receive a tuition discount because I was an employee. The classroom and materials were easy to navigate and access. I even had access to the materials once I completed the classes. The online classes were a collaboration of students, experienced and non experienced, young and old, all from different places throughout the world sharing their experiences and insight on weekly discussion topics that helped to foster understanding of content. After graduating GCU offered their alumni services for finding a career and looking into certifications or other programs. The set up of classes helped me to stay on track and finish in a timely manner. For a working adult this program was sufficient and acceptable to my organization."
Its up to you.

"If you are not a self-starter and not stay in contact with your advisor. You will be just a number if you fail to communicate. You as a student are paying for it, you have to build a relationship with GCU staff to communicate, it is like this any where else. Those who claim that they know of no one has completed a degree program, well I have. I have completed a Bachelors, and two Master's degrees, because I was self-motivated, did not make excuses as to what went wrong. Of course I some issues at GCU, but having open communications will help, no matter what school you attend. The people who complain are the ones that will not get anywhere and still not have at least one degree. People who complain needs to stop and start setting their goals and just do it, get your degree. Online is not for the complainers and those that are not self-starters or self-motivators. Learning online is much harder and some people except to be baby sit, and let the university do all the work for you. You want a degree and if you are serious about your education, just start and get it done, when its over, you have a degree you can apply on your resume."

"As a current graduate student, I am working on my Masters of Education in Early Childhood Development. I don't expect I will earn very much, but that's the career I chose. I am not satisfied with the assistance I requested in looking for scholarships, especially considering my grad internship requires 16 weeks of full time UNPAID work. I thought advisors and other staff were supposed to help direct in this area, but I was simply given a website after I thought about asking 6 months into my program. I asked students from other schools and I was given several sites to check out. Everyone was surprised I wasn't helped more with this. I have had very kind teachers, but I'm beginning to think I'm either suddenly very smart, or the curriculum is just fairly easy, in comparison to what I remember ending my undergrad with. It isn't "easy," but I'm easily getting straight As with a normal amount of effort. I am taking everything 100% online, so I don't know what the campus safety is like, but had to pick a number of stars above. I think they did a great job of finding the staff who recruited me to join GCU because he was very nice, knowledgeable and kind and was an excellent salesman. I wish he hadn't been, though. I should have shopped around."

"I read some rough reviews for this school before I started and thought, "the staff can't be that bad." Well I should have listened. They are terrible at their job. They don't actually teach, they just grade things. And the advisors leave out all the pivotal information that is needed for you to start teaching. You only find out once they told you that you missed a deadline by a month...which they never actually told you there was a deadline, or a process. This school is a total joke. PLEASE attend any other university. This for-profit school just wants your money. The first people you talk to are great, then once you're in, the forget about you and you become $$$ in their eyes. STAY AWAY."

"Grand Canyon University provides a flexible environment where you can work on your degree on your schedule. The classes are high quality and you don't have to pay extra for textbooks - I think it was a good deal overall."

"I am currently attending Grand Canyon University. I have a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in health and fitness. Now, I am pursing my masters degree online with GCU. The program is full of helpful staff. This includes the counselors and advisors as well. I have never been so blessed with having as much support as GCU gives. The program may not be the best for me when an outsider looks in. I'm obtaining a Masters in Secondary Education, however my focus is in physical education. This program does not focus on PE. I have taught myself to take the information, assignments, discussions and do a little additional research to learn how to pertain this to my future as a PE teacher. I would not go back and change the program I am in if I had to do it again. I am able to travel while focusing on my class at the same time because my classes are online. I have been blessed with the opportunities to do student observations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and my home state of Alaska. I plan to do my semester of student teaching back in Alaska and I look forward to my last three courses before that. I am over half way done with this program and very excited to graduate! I thank GCU for their love and support while I work towards this goal. I'd also like to add that online schooling is not for me. Yet, the teachers have made every effort to keep their students involved and active in the classroom. The courses cover diverse subjects that all future teachers would learn from. This program is very special and I am learning many techniques, strategies, and methods towards teaching diverse students."

"GCU has supported me in obtaining the AZ Intern Certificate in order to make a smooth career change. I am now working as a teacher at a local high school and love it! The instruction is top notch. All of my classes are online, I have not stepped foot on campus, yet I feel very connected to the university. They emphasize collaboration and community, which makes such a difference! I highly recommend GCU!"

"Good School! Very responsive instructors and advisors that help students accomplish their academic goals. Like all academic institutions students must communicate with instructors and advisors effectively. That eliminate 90% of the problems most students are complaining about. My experience has been very good thus far."

"I choose GCU to obtain my graduate degree because of its Christian heritage and values. Majority of the online instructors are very knowledgeable, supportive, and very responsive to the needs of online students. As in any education endeavor, one must be invested and have realistic expectations. All my expectations were met. I also attended the graduation ceremony and had the opportunity to tour the campus. I did not use the financial resources offered by the school, and therefore, I cannot make any recommendations in that regard. There are a to of online resource and help, as well as the student advisor, which are all helpful throughout the entire process and duration of my studies. I would recommend this university to all students who are adult learners, and highly motivated."

"The teacher say they don't get your work when you have proof of it being submitted. The teacher do not communicate with students. They only want your money. . The system they use if full of errors, not mobile. Read the complaints on the BBB website."

"I attended another online program for a semester and realized more that the program was no for me. However, when switching to Grand Canyon University, I learned that the online graduate program is more academically rigorous and has proven to be a great challenge, in a good way. I feel that I'm learning more and building community even while located in another state. I feel that I'm getting great value for my education."
