"When I first chose UMBC as my undergraduate university, I had my doubts. The school is in the middle of nowhere Catonsville with nothing really around unless you drive. If you're looking for a social party life, this is not the school for you. However, if you're looking for a good education with several career opportunities during and after college, this is your school. In my four years, I have learned so much not only about Psychology, but also by myself. I made life long friends, was exposed to so many different cultures, all while building my future career. The professors were extremely helpful and passionate about what they were teaching and wanted their students to excel. You'll often get the one or two professors that are not that great, but don't let that dishearten you. UMBC is an honors university that lives up to its reputation. I am fortunate that I listened to my family and attended UMBC"

"I transferred from Montgomery College to UMBC, which was a smooth process. I had an excellent adviser who became my academic and career mentor. UMBC at Shady Grove has an excellent psychology program. I felt that the program prepared me well by teaching me about the different fields in psychology and research methods. I highly recommend this program especially for non-traditional students. Even though the campus is unlike other traditional institutions, all of the resources and services that a student will need to succeed are there in the campus. USG has a very welcoming and supportive environment that you will feel that it is your home away from home. I highly recommend attending one of the nine institutions at the USG campus."

"I attended UMBC as a transfer student having previously attended a local community college. My experience upon my transfer was nothing short of fantastic from the moment I stepped on campus. I felt welcomed right away and was excited to get my educational career rolling. I met so many new, interesting, and driven people which was a wonderful atmosphere to be a part of. After two years, I graduated with a degree that I was excited about, but thought I could set myself up for even more success if I continued my education. I loved it there so much that I am actually now attending Graduate School at UMBC. I am loving every minute and cannot wait to put the skills and knowledge that I had acquired through UMBC to use in my future career."

"UMBC was nothing short of a wonderfully challenging and rewarding experience. I transferred to UMBC from a small community college seeing as though I was not sure of exactly which content area I wanted to pursue a degree in. After transferring in 2011, I decided on Psychology - a field in which there are many avenues to build a career or further your education. Over the next two years until I graduated, I worked with many different professors and each one was more helpful than the next. The teachers truly do want you, as a student, to succeed and do well. I found this out very early on when I took on an extremely difficult load of classes in my very first semester. As time went on, I learned to work efficiently because of the tips I had been taught over the years. This ultimately lead to my success and eventually my desire to go back to school and pursue a Master's degree. UMBC is a wonderful institution and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is passionate about learning in an environment that is filled with teachers passionate about their students' success."
