"The Master of Public Health program is challenging, but the faculty are accessible and want you to succeed. The practicum is very beneficial and allows you to apply what you have learned and acquire skills and experience essential to your professional career. Blacksburg is a beautiful area with affordable housing, and Blacksburg Transit is very nice and convenient for Southwest VA. There are not a lot of scholarship and funding opportunities; however, you can find opportunities outside of the public health program with the graduate school and other university departments if you're persistent. Increasing assistantships and scholarships is one of the program's goals in the next few years."

"I think the pros of this graduate program are that it is flexible; one can attend classes while working a full-time job, and there is a good mixture of traditional and online coursework. The cons are that it is a relatively new program, and some of the courses need further development; also there are only two concentration tracks, as apposed to other MPH programs that have more options."
