"Easy access to classroom activities. The writing center is key to success. Faculty is also available to make your transition through school easier to get through. I feel the work presented at Walden has greatly improved my ability to critically think. Yes there is a lot of research and writing involved through papers and discussions. I am at the point where I just wanted to do what I need to do to get where I want to be. I do not need too much interaction with other students and most of the work can be easily completed. The classwork, and papers are at least as demanding as any I have written in the past. This is the only school I know of that require referenced citations for in class comments and postings. I recommend Walden to those who have good study and computer skills, and can work well independently with online support when needed. I also like the interaction between students. The discussions allow for in-depth conversations about current topics that matter in the world of nursing. Completion requires self-organization, self-regulation, self-management, self-motivation. If you are unable to think independently, you will not succeed at Walden. In addition to the academic rigor, the student support services at Walden were excellent. I always received a response to questions/issues/problems within 24 hours and always satisfactory from advising, financial aid, the writing center, the research center, registrar, etc. Also, the Walden Library is superb and I will greatly miss having access to it. I highly recommend Walden University."

"Completed all courses with a 4.0 GPA. Dissertation during process the school changed my committee chair 4 times! Last chair, Dr. Keepers was the least professional and knowledgeable who did not follow the rubric. Spent over $200,000 without completing my dissertation! Do NOT, I repeat do NOT go to this FOR-PROFIT school. Ask about their completion rate; they avoid the question, tell you the student it's inappropriate for you to even inquire about the Doctoral graduation rate, and never give you an answer."

"BEWARE!!!! The PhD prerequisite coursework was easy with much student and instructor guidance on a weekly basis. However...Be Aware and Be Prepared for the PhD dissertation process. It takes forever, costs a fortune, and you are on your own with very little guidance. The university estimates (4) quarters to write/complete the entire dissertation. Each quarter costs approximately $3000. It will really take about 8 quarters. So, $24,000 just to write the dissertation. The Chair takes 5 weeks to give you any feedback. Then it goes to the committee member, who takes 5 weeks to give feedback. Then, the quarter is over and not much was accomplished. Why can't the Chair and committee member simultaneously give you feedback together????? And what happened to the 7 day feedback requirement???? It is a money-making hoax!!! ***Make sure the career step you will gain is worth the $80,000 it costs for the PhD Degree."

"My degree involved some great classes and I learned a lot, but the program was very regimented and a number of the courses were not sequenced properly. Most of my books were 7 years old. I had to supplement what I was learning with coursework from other universities because there was not enough variety in my program. The coursework did not prepare you well for the research and dissertation/doctoral study phase of your degree. Consequently, you are forced to spend additional time and money trying to setup a research study that you are not prepared for. I finally got a wonderful doctoral chair who helped me immensely, but the for profit motive of the school encourages the least amount of instructors for the highest amount of students (so she was very busy). Nonetheless, all but one of my instructors were good teachers who genuinely cared about the students they taught, but It was sad to see a student drop out of the program due to one horrible instructor who had an emotional IQ of 50. This teacher had a Ph.D. in education with little to no knowledge of how to teach others effectively."

"I loved the school. My program was challenging and exciting. It was a great learning experience for me, but what made me happiest was that it fit with my schedule and allowed me to pursue other things as well as even earn an associate in nursing at a school in my hometown as my third degree while still keeping up with all my classes at both schools. My one pet peeve with the school was that I really wish there was more financial aid available. But over all I am very happy with the school."

"My doctoral learning experience contributed significantly to the efficacy of my world work. In psychology, the Walden Professors provided appropriate level of feedback - consultative and participative. Although it took a year longer than I had anticipated to completing my doctorate degree, the was a longer process than I had expected. The extra time occurred in the dissertation phase of my program. Late in the first draft of Chapter 2, I discovered a flaw in my Literature Review that required me to readdress my hypothesis and change my inquiry design. Despite my feelings at the time, I learned significantly from the experience. Lastly, I worked with the same dissertation chairperson throughout the dissertation phase. The Walden structure emphasizes the Appreciative Inquiry framework for those who wish to contribute to making changes in the psychosocial contexts of their life experience. This framework roundly engages individuals who are self-determined to change. The methodology provides opportunity for those who can discipline themselves to the online and distance learning environments. The time commitment for me was full-time. I worked 20-25 hours per month during my entire time at the Walden Doctoral Psychology, which included the coursework and dissertation phases, and four Residencies. I am grateful for my experience and time and Walden."

"I had to drop off my children this summer by bus, due to mishap with the airlines. It took me five days to get up there, and will take me that amount of time to get back. When I contacted the instructor, all he could say was the assignment was easy, and I should be able to do it. The program director was contacted, and literally had the same thing to say; my instructor tried to work with me; regarding the assignment. I should obey policy, even though I asked for extension ahead of time. In addition, some of the instructors do not care about the students; nor about the students personal affairs. They only care about getting paid from you."

"The Business Program is riddled with problems. One of which is too many students and not enough people despite plenty of incoming money. Another issue is redundancy, meaning same types of courses from one degree to the next. Another - Curriculum that has not been revised for several years. Another - Professors that have less experience and degrees than you. Another - professors who are on an online ego boost. Another - don't have a serious issue in life - no one will help you."

"Much like other comments; I had requested a medical leave due to a surgical procedure and gave ample time before my next classes started. The "advisor" supposedly approved everything and all was a go. I was also a registered Disability student. When I logged back in to check my courses and sign up for my next classes, I found that I couldn't because Walden was saying I owed for the past semester that I had surgery! I have been fighting this for almost 2 years now, bill collection saying I owe $5300 for courses I never took and funds I never received (however Walden DID receive 2,200). My loans were then put in Forgiveness due to health issues, yet Walden still says I owe and refuses to release my transcripts (I was 3 courses from my degree!)."

"Prior to entering my field education, my experience has been great. The professors were helpful, and very informative. The residency was like a vacation away from home. I really enjoyed it. Now, entering my field education, it seems the ball has been dropped. The syllabus is not accurate to what the professor is wanting from the students. Everything is scattered on the blackboard and unorganized, resulting in students being unaware of certain information. For one assignment, I saved the blog on accident too early. I immediately posted the full assignment with references in the comments area. She docked me points because she failed to see my second posting in the comments. After trying to communicate with her about it, she replied that she would not look into it any further. During my site visit over the phone, she wasn't engaged in conversation. Then, we have process recordings, in which I received a 90/90 on the first one using the required template. On my second one, she gave me a 0/90 stating I did not use the correct template. The ending experience to my MSW is not what I expect from a school where I am paying over 3 grand for a class. I expect higher quality education, and more organized staff. I am not saying this is not a good school just from one professor. This school can do better in my opinion."

"I am still currently taking classes at Walden University. The classes are back dated. One class I took was created back in 2011. One of the books was created back in 2010. Also, the advisers do contradict one another. So, if you talk to another adviser in your area, the do not say the same thing. You have to make an appointment with advisers. I had to make mine weeks in advance. I went to another University, called them in that day and they called me back within hours. Blackboard and the CRM do not sync. A class that is dropped will still show up in Blackboard. The residencies are very expensive. There is a cost to adding just a residency to your class list. Then you have to pay for the room and food. As far as positives, teachers got back to me within a day by email. Grades were turned back to me three days after I turned in my homework. They provided feedback that did assist me to improve my homework assignments. All the teachers responded promptly to discussion boards."

"The advisor gave me bad information which cost me money. I requested a different one. I then was hospitalized and the new advisor had me submit paperwork for refund/withdraw. Did everything I was supposed to. I was told by advisor it was approved. The next thing I know I'm getting calls about owing tuition for the semester I had withdrawn. When they called I explained and they said I had to find the advisor and have them clear it up. The advisor was gone and they assigned the first advisor back to me. Then they turned it over to a collection agency. They promised refund and withdraw and now I have a collection on my credit report. Thank You Walden University., the only recommendation I will give is "Don't go to Walden." To all veterans, be careful they will give you bad info and then charge you."
