Graduation Year: 2013

Walden University caters to students who are not able to attend a traditional brick and motor university. Walden University does not expect less of their students because it is an online university. You are expected to work hard and produce quality work. Each week there are discussion board posts, mini papers, and quizzes that have to be completed. Walden University also engages students in social responsibility. You have to write papers that connects with their mission of being socially responsible. I enjoyed my time at Walden University, it prepared me for my current position in Human Resources. I learned how to make ethically sound decisions, I am a strong writer, and I know how to apply policies and procedures as well as develop them for my department. I choose Walden for it's affordability, good reputation, and their commitment to social responsibility. Walden has delivered on it's promise to prepare me for my future career. It was flexible, my professors were knowledgeable and helpful. My academic advisor guided me through choosing classes and staying on track. I enthusiastically recommend Walden University to anyone who is looking to get their education online.

Degree: Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Graduation Year: 2019

Potential DNP Students Beware!!!!! Completing the actual DNP program may take you 2 years, but obtaining approval for your capstone project is a painful and costly joke. You spend at least 6months trying to get your committee to approve a DNP project, you are assigned 3 members. One tells you everything looks great, the next one makes revisions, and the third comes back and denies even the revisions made by their colleagues. It feels like a circus and you are in the middle of it. They have this policy where each committee member takes 14 days to complete their review of your paper, by the end of a 3 credit semester and $2500 dollars later, you are stuck in the same spot where you started and have to sign up for another bogus 3 credit class where you do nothing but wait for approval and pay another $2500. Although you are done with the actual DNP program, you have to keep re-enrolling until you complete your project. You can't switch schools at this point, and complaining to the program director is a waste because all you get is "be patient with the process." For a school whose mission is promoting social change, there is no accountability or consideration for your success or wellbeing, they're only interested in keeping you enrolled in the program for as long as possible.

Degree: Public Health
Graduation Year: 2016

A strongly rigorous online program. I was 7 years to finish my doctorate. The IRB process for research was very easy compared to other universities in Puerto Rico. The only limitation is the application of the theory, but I learned a lot to comply with high expectations in my work.

Degree: Family Practice Nurse/Nursing
Graduation Year: 2019

Any online course requires dedication and hard work and this one is no different. I have had great instructors - and a few not so great - but the good ones have outweighed the bad ones. Also, I have definitely had the benefit of gleaning true life experiences from the great ones during discussion boards. No degree is handed to you and I have worked my tail off and I feel that I have earned this! I am very happy to be finished in just 3 short months. All of the FNP programs are moving toward online programs and all of them require you to find your own preceptors - which is difficult. This program was designed to help professionals that work fit school into their schedule and that's a huge benefit. I have done this program part time and it has worked out great for me and my family situation right now.

Degree: Family Practice Nurse/Nursing
Graduation Year: 2020

This school is overpriced and under taught. The teachers all have different ideas of APA means so in one class is maybe acceptable and in another they require something else. The amount of time it takes for someone to return communication is ridiculous. Teachers will grade assisgnments at their leisure and when you address this issue they will say "follow the rubric" unacceptable. This school is a joke

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2015

I attended Walden online for my bachelors degree and had a good experience. any online nursing program has to have students that are self motivated, none will hold your hand. I completed 2 classes at a time and they were 6 weeks a piece. I am currently looking for a start date for a NP program with Walden. I see alot of reviews that complain about having to find your own preceptors.... just wanted to say that is the norm for online NP programs. every NP i work with has had to find there own, and I work with NP that attended Perdue, chamberlin, georgetown, and south carolina . Online schools are meant for convenience of working people . You have to know that or you will not be successful in any online program. You always have great professors and not so great professors.. at any school online or in person:)

This school is excellent regarding coursework. However, when it is time for your dissertation, please be aware that the right chair and committee makes all the difference. I have been stuck in dissertation hell for 7 months. Thus, I tried to change chairs but was told that I could not because I did not have feasible reasons. The bottom line is this: This school does not vet well as it relates to electing professors to be chairs. The chairs are not helpful and some are very sarcastic toward students. They provide no guidance just valueless comments that could leave one even more confused than they were from start. I will not recommend this school for a doctorate due to the lack of support from the committees during the dissertation phase. It is almost like coming up against the "establishment." In the words of the late Michael Jackson "They do not really care about us."

Degree: Criminal Justice
Graduation Year: 2019

I would give them a 5, but I thought the cost was a little too much and didnt like the idea we had to pay extra for residencies. You get out of Walden what you put in, and if your dedicate, you can navigate and be successful. I hear many complaints about the dissertation process, but I went from prospectus to IRB in two terms. My chair generally answered my email the same day, with the latest being the following day. My slowest part was URR approval, and it took 14 days which is still within the guidelines. I would also like to point out I finished my degree for under 40K and wondered how people can spend 200 K and not have a degree!

Degree: Education
Graduation Year: 2019

There is a lack of communication. I enjoyed the classes but when it comes to communication from other departments there is none. I am in my second class and I have yet to speak with someone in FA to explain my award letter or go over options with me. When asking live chat anything you will get many different versions about what is really going on. I work at a school but I heard so many good things about Walden so that is why i choose to attend here instead of my own University but I have yet to experience them. We pay too much to not be told about whats going on. COMMUNICATION IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

Degree: Curriculum & Instruction
Graduation Year: 2018

I have to say that Walden University is not for everyone because you have to be self-motivated. Do not expect professor to hold your hand to do your work. I received my Master of Science in Education and my Doctor of Education and both programs were rigorous. I do have to say that their dissertation process is very rigorous because they expect nothing but the best. Do not expect professors to tell you what to do because they will not tell you anything. Walden's online classrooms have rubrics for every assignment; therefore, you have to become familiar with them. These rubrics tell you exactly what they are looking for. If you do not follow them, you will not do well academically. If you are thinking about earning your Ed.D or Ph.D from Walden University, I have to tell you that the dissertation/doctoral project study is rigorous. I have attended both online and mortal brick universities and I have to say that Walden University format is much better. They have videos embedded, classroom assignment's and etc which makes it easier for you to follow through. As far as the coursework, it is just like attending any other school. People think online schools are a joke and easy, but they are not. If you do the work, you will not have problems with Walden. Good Luck in your Endeavors!
