"The Advanced Special Education program incorporated classes that are useful in the career of a teacher. I learned to understand standardized tests, such as achievement tests and intelligence tests. The program is comprised of classes that can be completed in one academic year, or the classes can be taken throughout multiple years. As a teacher in New York State, I am given 5 years to complete my Master's Degree. I was able to have this program fit comfortably in my life while I worked as a full-time teacher. The staff are incredibly supportive of their students and want to see them succeed. With small class sizes, you are able to develop relationships with other students. By networking with each other, you learn more than just the academia associated with the coursework."

"The program is an excellent program. Each graduating class is a small group. It makes it possible to be able to access the professors for help when needed."

"The pro's are that staff is usually available and easy to communicate with. Good teachers are in the classrooms and are preparing you for your career. The biggest con is the cost. Also, there seems to exist a lack of diversity. The stereotype that I would use to classify the student's would be, "rich white" people". However, keep in mind this is the stereotypical impression that I have received but it does not apply to everyone who attends."

"While I have not yet had experience of the Graduate Program first hand, since I am still in the application phase, it is a pretty competitive program to get into. There are only a very limited number of students, eight total, who enter every fall semester. The experience with the Deaf is invaluable however. Saint Mary's School for the Deaf is right nearby Canisius College and there are even dorming opportunities for the students enrolled in the Deaf Education program to live there and gain first hand experience. Living at Saint Mary's School for the Deaf is also much less expensive than the Graduate Student housing. The program itself is a very intensive program, often. A lot of experience and theory is packed in during the two years it takes to complete. However, the program ensures that those who enter it will be job ready by the end. I am looking forward to participating in this program during the fall semester of 2013. I know it will be a challenging and rewarding venture in my life."

"I'm doing my grad school work online and it has been awesome so far. It is not particularly challenging, but I am learning a lot and the staff are very understanding about some of the challenges I've had with accessing certain things because I currently live in South America."
