Not impressed

"I went to this school for DNP thinking that because its local it less expensive to attend immersion. First day of immersion: the number of nurses with no experience as NP entered the graduate program. I don't think they actually screen candidates for DNP. No wonder doctors don't respect NPs now. I am in the middle of finishing the course. I am sticking to it since I have a few more months to go. I am less than impressed with professors at the graduate level. Professors with no leadership experience teaching leadership classes. Or get this, no statistical experience in medical field or healthcare teaching biostatistics! I am not sure why I even went and pick this school over Vanderbilt when I got accepted. I should have stick with Vanderbilt and not Brandman."

"I have attended Brandman for about 3 years. In the beginning, it was a great school and was easy for me to keep up with since I am a single mother with kids. I started having problems up until I was about to graduate. I found the professors that I was engaging with were quite rude, and didn't bother to listen to issues students might have. The person in charge of my program is very hard to get ahold of and apparently is the only decision making person for the program. Now I am not saying this is the professors fault but if it is difficult for students to get ahold of someone if they have an emergency issue! Hello Brandman hire more staff to assist your students who are paying about $3,000 for 2 classes! The professors hardly respond to discussion boards either making it difficult to discuss the topic for that week. I have also had issues with the financial aid department they lack customer service and are rude. They need to realize that without students they would not have a job! I do not recommend this school to anyone, which is quite sad since I had wanted to finish my masters here. I will be looking for a different school to attend for my Masters and my Doctoral degree."

"Brandman is a "non-profit" University of Phoenix. I was in the MBA program until I realized that the they were using the same business model as the for-profits. These guys are only in it for the money. They point to their WASC affiliation and connection to Chapman as indicators of quality. Don't be fooled: WASC also accredited the now defunct Corinthian College, and gets paid by member schools to qualify them to receive student loans. Chapman College, the prestigious school in Orange, provides no academic oversight over Brandman, and apparently wants nothing to do with them. The Competency Based Education program is a complete joke. Earn your degree on your iphone? Please. How can people who have no competence in a field--no one in business has a degree in business or economics or experience running a business, including the Dean, certify the competence of others?"

"I chose Brandman's MBA program because they have a partnership program with my employer and that made it less expensive. More importantly, I did not want to sacrifice income to get a graduate degree, and I needed the flexibility of an on-line program because I frequently work late and on the weekends. On that score, I am happy I attended Brandman because in all likelihood I would otherwise not have pursued a Masters degree. There were some real frustrations, however. The professors did not provide a lot of feedback, with the exception of the capstone/thesis class. Sometimes the professors seemed super qualified, other times they were not very good communicators at all. Sometimes the curricula were compelling; sometimes they seemed disjointed and poorly thought out. There was a big focus on group projects, which was a blessing at times and a curse at others. The other students I encountered were, for the most part, kind and smart; some were duds (which wasn't fun on group projects). There was one major snafu with financial aid that was really frustrating - it was only after many phone calls and contacting different people that I finally had a resolution. In terms of reputation, I'm not sure a Brandman MBA degree means anything to most employers and for all I know could be a liability - some may disparage an on-line degree or a non-accredited business school. No one knows Brandman, and those who do associate it with an office building they saw from some highway.. I did the degree more for enrichment and thinking it would enrich my career and perhaps open new pathways I hadn't considered before. I guess time will tell. To sum up, what I would say is that Brandman is worth considering if you really need flexibility as you pursue your education. If you can attend a State school in person, I would say that's probably a better bet, especially if you are relying on the degree to open up your job prospects. Also, if you are going to go to Brandman, it will work best if you are a self-starter. You need to pace yourself and kick it up a notch for the hard classes (Finance, Econ, Capstone). On average I spent about 10 hours a week on my homework."

"The experience I have had at Brandman has been excellent. I had a lot of support from the disability office when I needed it for the short time I needed it. The professors seem to be top notch, excluding one that I can think of, and the professors have challenged my learning and abilities...I am glad I have gotten my money's worth. I would recommend Brandman to my friends and anyone looking for a well rounded education."

"I am almost toward the end of my degree and Brandman is pulling all types of non sense. The one stop office at the Fairfield campus is great. However, other members are below mediocre and it should not be this difficult to finish up a degree. I am not fond of how one particular staff members handles things. I would not recommend that anyone go to this school because of how students are treated. On the up side, the Travis AFB office has great staff members!"

"The school was not up front and forthcoming with fees that they charged. There was hardly ever an academic advisor available for assistance or when one was they could never answered any questions. There was always a lack of communication with the professors which caused me to score lower than normal on assignments. I was very unhappy with my overall educational experience. If University of Phoenix had a social work program I would've went there because they are well organized and helpful with academic achievements."

"I would not recommend attending this school. The Fairfield campus business center has a director that is bias and rude. She spends way too much time attempting to prove her point rather than listening. She is very argumentative. A lot of the other students feel the same way and we are ready to put Brandman behind us. The teachers are amazing but the Psychology director has an inflated grandiose personality and it is difficult to deal with. I am glad that it's over. Don't waste your time here... they are only concerned with the money."

"This school has no idea what they are doing. Financial services can never answer questions, their hours of operation are ridiculous, they have very very slow, if any, response time to emails, my advisor is a joke, very uninformed. I am used to online programs. Ashford University was 100 times better. I really hate this school..I do not recommend it at all."

"I attended a satellite campus of Champman University, now known as Brandman University. This was a great college, especially for those who need to work full time. The professors were often teachers at districts during the day, which provided great insight into the profession. Overall I would recommend this college to others."

"I attended this school because I have a state certified math disability and it would be nearly impossible for me to gain entry into my choice university. At times, I would literally plead for the school to act as if they support me (I am in the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate psychology program). As a student, (one of many examples) I would receive a syllabus with the wrong book listed then not have the correct book on time and have to return and order the correct one (only to have them refuse to change the syllabus for the next student) to save them this hassle---and many other errors--over and over again, I would attempt to get the problem corrected--only to have them remind me I was "free to leave the school" whenever I please. Even through I worked very hard and am a student with a 4.0 GPA, I have been treated very poorly at this school. During one 8 week session, we were at Week 6 and none of our work had been graded at all. We literally had no idea where we stood with this class. This was the only time my complaint actually registered--but why did I have to report this? Why wasn't the staff on top of this? By the time I was ready to enter my practicum as a trainee, I was given a list of places I could go to start therapy--and 90% of these were closed and the numbers disconnected. One practicum site was in Hawaii. When I tried to get this list rectified (which I am still fighting for) I was transferred to someone at the Lacey, Washington site (I go to the Santa Maria site) to a person who insisted "sometimes people might want to fly back and forth several times a week from Ca to Hawaii". Seriously? No--no student ever did that. But they would go through that amount of trouble---rather than change the list! It is so appalling---the whole experience---I just cannot wait to get out of this school. I am exhausted from the poor morale there, and feel that I was really "taken"."

"This was such a horrible experience! i was just trying to get my BA degree. these people are rude and inconsiderate. the first time they screwed up they encouraged me to quit because they already had the money, now they are waiting on the money and not comunicating at all. i tried the main campus and she actually hung up on me! wow im so done and i dont care if you know my real name. youve seen me face to face and still screwed me so who cares! with 3 classes left i will gladly go elsewhere!"

"This was a waste of money and time. I felt poorly supported and instructors were aggresive and lacked insight. They made me feel so inadequate answered their cell phones during class and played candy crush. this school presented so differently than what it ended up being. Please no names I do not trust that there would not be kickback for me."

"An absolute nightmare! The teachers do not teach, they just give you an enormous amount of work and you have to teach yourself. You're paying as much as going to USC and you're getting a third tier education. They couldn't seem to get me a master teacher to observe me while I taught because their master teachers apparently were to lazy to go to where I was teaching. The teacher's curriculum is a copy and paste system, they don't need to teach anything, but God forbid you are late. They have no accountability but we have to do an insane amount of work. I am a full-time teacher and they pile a lot of busy work and expect you to pass the classes with A's and B's. There's no way a teacher can balance the workload they give you on top of the workload that is your job. And the worst part of this workload is that it doesn't teach you anything either, I learned more in two years as a substitute teacher than I even learned from a single class. Also, these people are definitely predatory lenders putting you into debt to line someone's wallet with cash. These professor must make some really good money considering they don't do their job and we're signing away our lives to them."

"Brandman has been and absolute nightmare and I would not recommend it to anyone. Most of the professors were great (why they stooped to work there I don't know). The bottom line is Brandman is all about the money and keeping you enrolled as long as possible. The 'advising' here is comical and many of the 'coordinators' openly hate students. It almost seems like the school is actively working against you by throwing roadblocks in the way of getting a credential. Attending this school is one of the biggest mistakes I ever made."

"Worst school ever, no name recognition, employer oriented and job market booster! Very expensive, so many hidden costs, urge you to lend, and promise to help but they don't help. After spending over $40,000 at this school they still refereed me to collection agency for $1500. It was not even my fault, the advisor didn't do her job and I had prove. They encouraged me to appeal but the board is on their paycheck and if they rule against it, how would they get paid. This organization is a joke when you tell an employer you are graduated from Brandnman! Started all over from CC and got admitted to UC Berkeley. Now i KNOW WHAT IS SCHOOL AND HOW MUCH IT WORTHS IF TAUGHT BY RIGHT PEOPLE AND KEPT OFF FROM BUSINESS. Don't waste your time and money, go do a 6 month course and it will pay you back than a 4 years school at this organization."

"If you need a degree for knowledge or to be successful in work place, do yourself a favor and get an AA from a community college instead of a BA from Brandman. The educational system and curriculum is a joke, having piles of cash and still graduating with debt is normal with this system. It sucks the juice of life out of students for it's business. The degree won't even get you a job interview, and if somehow an employer just shot an arrow in dark and consider you for interview, it will be embarrassing because this university doesn't prepare you for job market and challenges facing in firms and governmental companies. Only consider this university if you got dropped from college 3 times, you are not a learner or you don't really care because you inherit a million dollar business from you ancestors and you just need a name on your FB profile. Again, I can't stress enough on the money part of this university, they will charge you for every single thing and show you heaven while there's no value to its degree in real world. They will give you an estimate of $65000, but you will graduate and don't even know that you spent over $80000. If you drop a class, withdraw, fail, repeat no matter what you do they will find a way to charge you for it over and if you talk logic they will threat you on sending your file to collection agency and seas your transcript and diploma. You are a total slave in their system unless you put a bunch of cash. The professors are not even decent in this organization, the classroom is set in odd numbers, online classes are a joke. I took statistics and finished it with a grade of B. I went to community college and wanted to finish it with an A and replace the grade. I end up getting a C after putting even more work than what I did initially. I was a complete illiterate compare to the people who went up in the chain of community college. This is really funny, there calculus and statistics classes are not even accepted in community college. I wanted to retake statistics and I had to take the assessment test to place in that class. I looked for jobs for over two years and couldn't even get an enter level job. I return back to University of California Berkeley and majoring in Economics. This is my second year and I already got a part time job and an internship this summer. I now know the value of education and it costs about a quarter of what I spent in Brandman. If you need a degree to get a job reconsider your choice!"

"Totally enjoyed each class and every instructor, the courses were challenging however, the professors ensured we were well equipped and prepared throughout each course of instruction. I can not speak for campuses outside of Washington, but the problems were few and the satisfaction high up here in the PNW. Don't focus on the negative posts, this is a great University, get in there and work toward your desired end state."
