"Great school! Grad workload intense But good. Great school spirit. Had one or two petty incidences but Carolina Alert keeps you updated. Thoroughly enjoying classes."

"Unc has a great location with diverse student body and faculty. The campus is easily accessible and the overall feels safe. The downside in my personal case as I am considered a grad student my actual program is not within the unc system and therefore I do not qualify for financial aid. The quality of the school ranking for my optometry program is however of great value to me in the upcoming years. They have a strong academic reputation."

"You cannot find a better deal for an MD than UNC-Chapel Hill. The quality of education combined with the affordable tuition (one of the lowest in the country!) made my decision to enroll a no-brainer. I am now in my last year of school, and I feel blessed every day to have received my medical education at UNC."

"To be successful in the graduate school programs you have to self-sufficient, resourceful, and network. Like any institution there will be politics and you have to be honest and document every communication and demonstrate that you are willing to improve in skills and techniques where needed."

"Pros: short and concise 14 month program. Focus is directly on school counseling. A full year of experience in a school setting shadowing a school counselor. Strong cohort companionship. Student diversity is high and helpful. Cons: There isn't much graduate school financial aid. Not much time to work. Many different locations for classes. Internship placement may not be in Chapel Hill."

"UNC's School of Medicine is ranked #1 for patient care in the entire nation. They have an excellent program. The faculty is awesome. The curriculum is undergoing a change in the next few years that makes it more integrative so that should be good for new students."

"UNC is a fantastic place to learn to be a physician. The administration is constantly looking for students to input from student on how to make our experience better. The classes are hard, as they are at any medical school, but the other students and the faculty make it an overall enjoyable experience."

"Living in Chapel Hill is expensive, but apartments in Carrboro and Durham are usually reasonable. The bus system is awesome. It is completely free, and you can hop on a bus and go virtually anywhere. On campus is usually safe, but there area areas outside of Chapel Hill that you should be mindful of."

"I have just started with the new MBA@UNC program. I love that I can get a quality education from a top Business School without having to uproot my family. The access to classes and professors is virtually unlimited and do not feel I am limited in anyway or getting a different standard of education. My only con is that they do not offer the Healthcare Administration MBA Track to parallel their oncampus Healthcare MBA."

"UNC-Chapel Hill carries weight in its name, has a great alumni network, and has the potential for connections for good opportunities in the area. On the other hand, it is still developing those connections. The budget for financial awards is not adequate."

"I think the UNC Clinical Psychology program is excellent because its training strategy focuses on research, clinical work, and teaching. Depending on your interests, you can tailor your training to get more of a certain experience that will ultimately better prepare you for your career goals. The students in the program are all very smart, but there is no competition among them; it is a very warm and collaborative environment. In addition, the faculty are very productive, but enjoy their role as mentors and are very open to collaboration with students. Lastly, UNC-CH is situated in the research triangle, with Durham and Raleigh not too far away. There are plenty of students in grad school and young professionals in the area to make new friends or for dating. Overall, it is an excellent program!"

"UNC's School of Pharmacy is the number 2 pharmacy school in the nation. They in general live up to that ranking. The location and history of program is a benefit to students. UNC Hospitals is right across the street so the people that are teaching the classes are also the practioners and researchers working at the hospitals. The program is also a great place to be if you are sure you want to be a pharmacist but not sure of the direction you desire go.Students are expose to pharmacist working in many facets and are willing to share how they achieved their career goals. The research coming out of UNC and the Research Triangle area is extensive. Tuition is high like any other school of pharmacy but they give a large amount of scholarships each year. Chapel Hill is a college town. Houses prices are not bad and their are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Durham and Raleigh is next door. There is a city wide bus system. You can get pretty much anywhere on the bus. Pharmacy school requires a large amount of work. Second year is the greatest amount of work. The school could really work on diversity especially within the faculty. The number of minority students is very low in my opinion. If you are a minority student especially African American or Hispanic it may be a challenging experience at times."

"The pharmacology program is a very rigorous program with a heavy 2-year course load and tough preliminary exams. I have found though, that despite the tough work load, that students leave this dept with several job opportunities."

"The School of Social Work offers a great program but the School is not very diverse and the faculty is often very busy. After I was done with coursework I had times when I wished I had had more support from school. My advisor has always been great to me, but I had problems with my dissertation chair and some committee members. As everywhere, it depends on your ability to build relationships--with some people you connect easier, but not with others. Chapel Hill is a great little town to live and raise kids. Its buses are free (great!) and Harris Teeter is most conveniently located on all bus lines. However, if you are a grad student with a family + live on a budget, then a car is a must to drive kids to activities or get to Target."

"I am in the PhD program and I've got to say- I love it! Great value, full financial support and a bunch of great activities geared towards students that have been organized both by students and for students!. The faculty are very available and provide students with many opportunities- including authorship and conference presentations. The biggest (potential) flaw? If you want a bunch of teaching experience and would rather be a teacher than a researcher, you really have to make the teaching happen for yourself here. There are some provided opportunities, but not a ton. Also, this is a very quantitative research focused program. Again, this could be a strength for you, but if you prefer qualitative research methods, there are fewer experts in that area."
