"Overall, I'd say I love this program. Of course there have been a few hiccups along the way. The professors are very passionate about what they do and also helpful. They always want to help you gain research experience or work on something with them so that you learn authentically for the future. Most classes have been great, and the course work applies to the research aspect of educational psychology."

"Going to University of Alabama was a dream of mine that I was lucky enough to achieve. There is a sense of family on the beautiful campus. Nothing beats seeing a giant group of people decked out in their Bama gear cheering and screaming. I love my school."

"My journalism professors were incredibly helpful in preparing me for my career. I feel I was given an education on par with the most highly regarded journalism schools in the country. Nearly each professor had an extensive career in media and could give real advice on how to succeed."

"The Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Program consists of five grueling, overloaded semesters of clinic and classroom responsibilities. While this is a con, it is also a pro. Students are trained to be top-notch clinicians, students and researches as they enter into the workforce. Graduate students are surrounded by welcoming faculty, ready to instruct or assist in any way possible as students navigate through the training camp that is graduate school. Students have the opportunity to gain experience in various areas of the program from the liberty of choosing internal or external client loads."

"My graduate program at The University of Alabama is one I'm proud to be associated with. The faculty and staff are some of the warmest and most helpful people I've ever met. At UA, you are not simply a student or a number--you are they reason they are there. The school continues to bring in top notch professors and advisors, constantly striving to be better. That is what I love most about UA. The community at UA is also exciting. The "up and coming" area of Tuscaloosa is transforming this former "college town" into a vibrant city. As much as I love UA, there is something to say for the lack of diversity. I do believe it is getting better, but racial and ethnic groups are still very underrepresented in this area. As no school is perfect, however, I have been very pleased with my experience thus far and am looking forward to continuing my education."

"The University of Alabama's graduate program in mechanical engineering has given me an opportunity to diversify my knowledge in the engineering field. I have the chance to participate in a research that would probably make a difference in the technologies used in the Army, which is a very gratifying experience."

"UA Law is the best law school in the Southeast and the most affordable in the U.S. Alabama is a highly competitive school, but the campus culture is one of the most supportive I've seen among law schools nationwide."

  • Degree: Counseling
"Pros: Family Financial Planning and Counseling provides a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) approved curriculum and students are eligible to sit for the exam upon completion. The program is 30 hours long, so it is a year and a half tops! The faculty members are incredible warm and approachable. As far as the city/town, I could not love another place more than I love the atmosphere on this campus! Cons: There's only one assistantship position available in the department. However, there are other financial aid opportunities available through other university sources."

"I love the intimacy of the program. The faculty and staff are very welcoming to new students in the program. The spring internship is not favorable towards students and can be a hassle. Overall, the program is great and well put together."

  • Degree: Civil Engineering
"The University of Alabama has, in general, a wonderful Engineering Program. In particular, the Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) Program is well organized while simultaneously allowing relative freedom in choice of subject matter and focus. The pros of the CCEE Graduate Program include encouraging instructors and staff, the capability and desire of the advisors to give the students the individual attention needed, and the growth of the department - bringing in new material and viewpoints in the form of new instructors. The cons of the CCEE Graduate Program (at the time of my graduation) included a lack of cultural diversity, as well as a lack of diversity in the courses concerning Environmental Engineering. However, the latter was being mitigated by the growth of the department. All in all, the CCEE Graduate Program has more pros than cons and provides abundant opportunities for all involved."

"While, I am impressed with the colossal size of the music program at Alabama and the commitment to the highest levels of excellence, I still feel a certain alienation when it comes to finding financial support and introductions to the social atmosphere of the University."

"I am still recently new to the MBA program at The University of Alabama. The pros of being in the program are building a relationship with the professors and staff and the attention one receives if in need of assistance. The con for me is the workload. Two months before school started, I had to complete a workshop for the program. The workshop is about how to successfully land a job (interviews, resume, cover letters, etc). I used the techniques on an interview and landed a full-time position. I asked the MBA department for feedback about my schedule and they said I should not take a full-time job. Wow! I used the workshop to get a job and now, I'm being scolded for it. Other than that situation, it's an overall great program."
