"The pros of the graduate program I'm attending is that I'll be enriched in even more knowledge about my field of study. The graduate program will teach me more specific information to help me become a better Speech Pathologist. The cons of the graduate program is the financial struggle that comes with it."

"Very expensive program, no scholarships for me. The surrounding area is not the best to put a school in."

"Pros: USF's Morsani College of Medicine has become more diverse over the years. They continue to bring in a more diverse set of students which contributes to our education. It will allow us as future doctors to better understand our future patients. The staff and faculty are extremely nice and are willing to assist us whenever possible. They often ask for student input on ways of improving certain things at the school. The grading scale is on a pass/fail system, which has decreased the competition amongst the students. This I feel has made students more helpful to each other. The students are friendly as well.Another plus is that the lectures are recorded so students have access to them at any time. Cons: The class size is about 160 students, but in your first year, physical therapy students and a few master students are also in your science lectures, so the total amount of students is about 200. So for an individual who likes a smaller class size they may not like this; however it actually isn't a bad set up. The auditorium fits everyone and it allows us to interact with another discipline of the health field. Outside of the main science lectures, the class is broken up into groups of 8 for the doctoring courses, which is a good thing."

"Some of the pros of this program are that the professors come from a variety of backgrounds with a variety of research focuses and specialties. If you are interested in working in one area of the world or one specific focus, chances are that you will find a wonderful advisor who has similar experiences or knowledge that they can share with you. One of the cons is that this department is extremely large and it is easy during your first year to feel a little lost in the shuffle. However, because the department is large there are also many students available to help navigate you and offer advice, as well as faculty to connect you to individuals you may not meet on your own."

"This program prepares you for a diverse and exciting field. The faculty and advisors are very accessible. The only con is the hour commute I have to make every week."

"The program is meant to be an accelerated 18 month program to get a Master's Degree. The course load seems pertinent to the time allotted to finish the program. The faculty is very accessible and willing to answer any questions or concerns via email, telephone or face to face."

"USF College of Nursing has very outstanding and exceptionally competitive programs. However, it prepares one for job placement anywhere in the nation. The research department is operated by some of the most intelligent instructors in the country. I am proud to be a student at USF and I would recommend it to anyone seeking quality education."

"I am in the audiology doctoral program at the University of South Florida, just like any other program there are both pros and cons. One example of a pro is the research that is available to students with animal studies, hearing aid studies, and auditory brain training. Furthermore, as a clinic the university sees all age groups, degrees of hearing impairments, and treatment such as hearing aids and cochlear implants. Some cons though are the intensity of the coursework while having to be in clinic. It takes a lot of time management and diligence to do well in the program. Secondly, the high out of state tuition is not very attractive to students coming from different states."

"I was a graduate of the Accelerated BSN program at USF. The one main fallback is that the program is so rigorous that working is not recommended. So the need for financial aid is a high priority. Unfortunately the Financial Aid office was not familiar w/ the program and the extenuating circumstances that put me and my fellow peers at a great need for financial aid. I only feel that the specialty degrees need to be more known by the FA staff."

  • Degree: Counseling
"The Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Program at the University of South Florida has very supportive staff as well as a great curriculum. There are many opportunities to advance in this program with internships, research, and practicum. However, there is not many scholarships or fellowships that are available at USF to help with financial burden. The class sizes are smaller and this is beneficial to those people who are looking for a program that really caters to the individual graduate student's needs."

"This program has allowed me to achieve my dream. Since I was young, all I've wanted to do was to help people. Now with the support of the facility and staff I will be able to help people for the rest of my life. The teachers are willing to work with you and are really there to support and help. Can't think of somewhere I would rather be for Grad school."
